Existing belts from lineage[edit]

How many currently actuve titles can be traced from this original World Title, and should that information be included in the article? 41.245.156.10 (talk) 16:21, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • almost any major promotion that has connection to the NWA can claim a connection the World Heavyweight title, that doesn't necessarily make it so —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.235.132.62 (talk) 05:12, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WWE's World Heavyweight Championship Lineage[edit]

This article incorrectly states that the WWE's World Heavyweight Championship (not to be confused with the WWE Championship) is a successor to the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. WWE's World Heavyweight Championship was created in 2002 as a separate-but-equal title to the WWE Championship. While the World Heavyweight Championship of the WWE looks like the Big Gold Belt used in WCW, the World Heavyweight Championship of the WWE has no lineage to the WCW or NWA titles or even beyond 2002. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dilk85 (talkcontribs) 19:06, 11 August 2008 (UTC) Wrong. The world heavy weight championship has no previous history or lineage.Serialjoepsycho (talk) 07:01, 25 March 2011 (UTC) It does have thats why the History of the WHC covers it... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.12.224.42 (talk) 00:22, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

AWA (Boston)[edit]

The article says Thesz unified the NWA and AWA (Boston) titles. I haven't changed it, but I seem to think that's wrong. I'll look up information, to link to, but this does some wrong. 41.245.182.70 (talk) 13:22, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Splinters[edit]

I realise this is not a forum, but it would be interesting to note which current Titles are in one way or another, offshoots of the World Heavyweight Championship. WWE currently has 3, TNA has 1, and the NWA has 1? Are there others? Dr Rgne (talk) 08:21, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Current titles? Well these are about it. --UnquestionableTruth-- 06:14, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
User:Afkatk/SandboxP9 I am currently working on this article in my Sandbox, and have included all the current titles which can attribute their origin to this Championship. AfroGold - Afkatk 18:20, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The article in your Sandbox is looking very good.--UnquestionableTruth-- 03:05, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeh Wrestlinglover has been helping me out quite a bit with it, I don't feel its near ready yet I still got quite a bit to do on it. AfroGold - Afkatk 11:41, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well I think it looks great. Feel free to put it live. --UnquestionableTruth-- 08:46, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First date[edit]

If George Hackenschmidt "won the recognition of being the World Heavyweight Champion on January 30, 1904" then why doesn't the date say as much? Tony2Times (talk) 12:52, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Frank Gotch[edit]

If Frank Gotch lost the title in 1913, than why does the date show he lost the title in 1915? Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 12:51, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Post-Gotch, pre-Stecher reigns?[edit]

Why are the purported post-Gotch, pre-Stecher reigns of Gus "Americus" Schoenlein, Stanislaus Zbyszko, and Charlie Cutler ignored in this list? Were their claims not widely-recognized? They're listed in the wrestling-titles.com page cited as a source in this article. Jeff Silvers (talk) 15:52, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

After Gotch, there were a number of people who laid claim to the title but its difficult to come up with any sort of standard as to which ones should be recognized as actual reigns. Based on looking forward, Stecher's claim is solid. Cutler had no particular great claim to the title and never really beat anyone of note. He is only really mentioned because he was beaten by Stecher. Aside from Gotch supporting him in the one match, Americus was never much in the title picture. Stanislaus Zbyszko is more complicated. He was certainly a credible contender but he went to Europe and wasn't involved in the title picture until the 1920s. If he were given a reign, its not clear when it would start or when it would end. The wrestling titles web page provides a degree of information but its often not really a complete picture of what was going on. 12.12.144.130 (talk) 22:59, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
