Andorras case[edit]

Andorra has only 270 km of road. That is small relative both to size, population, and probaply the economy too. That number is from 1994, so any chance it has doubled by now?--82.134.28.194 (talk) 07:27, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hong Kong does NOT have more roads than Argentina.[edit]

I have changed the figure for Hong Kong, but I don't know of a simple way to adjust its position in the table and I'm not going to learn and I'm not going to redo it manually. This error is so egregious it casts all data in the table, despite its claim to be sourced directly from the linked CIA page, into grave doubt. I'm also not going to check it all. I'm just going to change Hong Kong's ridiculous entry, leave this note, and be on my way. Good luck. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Regulov (talkcontribs) 19:44, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Funny thing is that I entered the Talk section to comment on the same error! Argentina should be ahead of Italy too. Just consider the Buenos Aires Province alone, which is bigger than the whole of Italy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.216.51.10 (talk) 20:39, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Freeways in Russia[edit]

I'm sorry, where have you found the information about 39 143 km of Russian freeways? You are wrong, if you decided that all roads with blue sign are freeways, because most part of the roads are 1x1 and have intersections, so they can't be placed in the same column with American, Spanish and German expressways. Thus, i understand the information about almost 40 000 km of Russian freeways, as a lie or provocation, and will have to remove it, if you don't show me the freeways, which i don't know about. PS i'm sorry, my english is awful :( 78.24.28.186 (talk) 09:36, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It should be relative to the surface of the country[edit]

There should be one column that express (km of road)/(surface of the country); that'd be more useful to compare road development of countries with different sizes.

It's called road density, and yeah it should be present. Also can somebody remove commas numbers? 213.160.143.146 (talk) 10:58, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also by population, like the page "List of countries by rail transport network size" — Preceding unsigned comment added by GS-216.1993 (talkcontribs) 09:59, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

United States data needs correcting[edit]

I checked the reference for the US data ("Table 1-5: U.S. Public Road and Street Mileage by Functional System") at the listed URL (https://www.rita.dot.gov/bts/sites/rita.dot.gov.bts/files/publications/national_transportation_statistics/html/table_01_05.html) and found errors. First, although the table is indeed from a report dated April 21, 2017, the data under "Road Length" is from 2014. The table itself includes 2015 data. Second, I was unable to identify how the data listed under "Motorway Length" was derived from the source., although it is close to the total for urban and rural "Principal arterials, Interstates." I believe this total should also include US "Principal arterials, other freeways, and expressways," which are also included in the reference. Had these been included, the 2014 total (in kms) would have been 104,466. That said, the reference also has a line item, "Principal arteries, other." I do not know whether these miles should be included under "Motorway length."

I see the tag "Clarification needed" for the U.S. entries under "Road Length" and "Date of Information," but I am not sure what these tags refer to. Assuming the "date of information" refers to the year the distance is correct, the Date of Information should be 2014 (now needing to be updated to 2015 data included in the reference), not 2017. However, if Date of Information refers to the date of the authoritative reference, it should remain as 2017.

Since I was uncertain about which date was appropriate, or exactly what to to include as "motorway length" from the reference, I chose not to update any of the U.S. information. Drbb01 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:58, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Should we add paved roads?[edit]

Not every country will have this data available, but it is also a good indicator of economic development and road use. El T (talk) 00:39, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Expressways in Canada[edit]

The page for Controlled-access highways lists that Canada has 6350 km of controlled-access highway, although the source is not cited. When looking at a road map of Canada, it is clear that only about 7000 km and not 17,000 km of roads comparable to the US interstates or European motorways are present in Canada. I changed the figure in the table but I am also curious as to where the other 10,000 km of expressways come from. Canada is without doubt not the only country where this figure is inaccurate. 217.104.104.163 (talk) 19:14, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
