New Data[edit]

Slightly new, but possibly still outdated data is available:

2008: https://www.meijiyasuda.co.jp/profile/news/release/2008/pdf/20080924.pdf (already incorporated with estimated total number, and occupation rate for the top 10 names)

2013: https://www.meijiyasuda.co.jp/profile/news/release/2013/pdf/20131211_01.pdf (no estimated total number, only occupation rate),

2018: https://www.meijiyasuda.co.jp/profile/news/release/2018/pdf/20180808_01.pdf (no estimated total number, only occupation rate).

However, one can estimate the total number of occupation. One could also estimate the relative occupation of the complete 2008 data set. If the pattern continues then we might see 2023 edition in the near future.

There are actually rank changes, compare 原田 (2008:52, 2013:49, 2018:51) for an example. However, one should check whether different ranks for the same estimated occupation is really a good idea. Natsuhata (talk) 00:47, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Surnames converging?[edit]

What's all this about then? [1] Isn't it the case in most countries that the wife takes the husband's surname? How is Japan different? Should this issue be highlighted in the article? 31.52.162.146 (talk) 16:40, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
