Scope[edit]

The article's scope needs attention. Rock-cut architecture, such as Ajanta, is different from sculpture, though the two may exist together. Johnbod (talk) 17:44, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hajar el Gouble or Hajar el Hibla[edit]

Which name should be used for the large in situ stone in Ballbek? Hajar el Hibla (stone of the Pregnant woman) seems to be more widespread than Hajar el Gouble (stone of the south) in a search I just did on the web, what are others thoughts on this?Halbared (talk) 09:08, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vague colossal sculpture example from Africa[edit]

One of the in situ sculptures from Africa is called

   Seti I, Egypt – limestone

Which is linked to Seti I the pharaoh, father of Ramesses the Great, which is obviously incorrect, I couldn't find out what is being referenced there The history of the page contains the following entry

   Seti I Carved out of Limestone

Again I could not find what is this, some colossal limestone sculpture of Seti I? Anybody knows about this?
Is it maybe the Mortuary Temple of Seti I which is made out of limestone,
but does it count as a sculpture? It is a whole structure... --buræquete 03:56, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

Rio[edit]

Is the statue above Rio not big enough to qualify for this list? What about the statue of Liberty? Give that there are a couple of bronzes listed, which technically aren't sculptures? 87.115.80.212 (talk) 22:20, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do these belong in this article?[edit]

The following statues:

Athena Parthenos, Athens, lost.
Athena Promachos, Athens, lost.
Colossus of Rhodes, Greece, lost
Colossus of San Carlo Borromeo, Italy
Sperlonga sculptures, Italy
Colossus of Barletta, Italy

All, or almost all, are NOT stone works created in situ but rather are bronze or something similar, created elsewhere and assembled where they are.
