Addition of Bengali script[edit]

SlowPhoton, addition of Indic scripts such as Bengali to lead and infobox is not allowed by community consensus as explained in WP:INDICSCRIPT. If you have any other concerns about my revert, explain here. —Gazoth (talk) 14:11, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Gazoth, Infobox appears to be incorrect, where (Asom Mukhya Mantri) is written. Asom Mukhya Mantri = Assamese: অসম মুখ্য মন্ত্ৰী = Assam chief minister. Whereas it should have been Asomor Mukhyamantri = Assamese: অসমৰ মুখ্যমন্ত্ৰী = Chief minister of Assam is the correct one for native_name. It is not Bangali script, it is Assamese script. As a native Assamese wikipedian, my multiple attempts to correct the information has been reverted. --SlowPhoton (talk) 14:17, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@SlowPhoton: You are more than welcome to correct the English transliteration from Asom Mukhya Mantri to Asomor Mukhyamantri. However, you cannot add Assamese script per WP:INDICSCRIPT. —Gazoth (talk) 14:20, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Gazoth: I understand your point, however in Template:Infobox official post what is native_name field supposed to be? --SlowPhoton (talk) 14:24, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@SlowPhoton: It is usually meant for native scripts, but India-related that come under WP:WikiProject India pages are an exception. There used to be many edit wars over which scripts to include in articles, since some states have multiple official languages and Hindi can be added to every article claiming that it is an official language. After an RfC, it was decided to remove Indic scripts in most pages with a few exceptions as documented in WP:INDICSCRIPT. You can add the English transliteration of Assamese to native_name field, as that is not forbidden by WP:INDICSCRIPT. —Gazoth (talk) 14:34, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Consider using IAST for transliteration, as a standardised transliteration mechanism will help avoid any future disputes regarding this. —Gazoth (talk) 14:37, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
