March 18, 2020 revisions[edit]

Because extensive revisions were needed to bring this article up to date, some actions were performed for each family. The universal or near-universal changes are listed here rather than in each edit summary except when they were the only edits. Additions or deletions of species, updates of taxonomy, and addition of or revisions to text were noted in edit summaries.

  • The format for expressing the number of species of each family recorded in the park was changed.
  • The abundance tags were revised to those in the 2015 Glacier Bird Checklist newly cited as the list's source.
  • The previous "dot" symbol denoting a nesting species was replaced by N.

July 12, 2020 revisions[edit]

Because of the changes necessitated by the update to the Check-list of North and Middle American Birds which the American Ornithological Society published on June 30, 2020, the revisions to this article are presented here rather than in a series of edit summaries. Changes are per the AOS unless otherwise noted.

  • Revise the references and text in the introduction.
  • Revise multiple families' common names per Clements.
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Phasiannidae (Pheasants, grouse, and allies).
  • Revise the sequence of species in genus Selasphorus (Hummingbirds).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Rallidae (Rails, gallinules, and coots).
