Untitled[edit]

I have made and posted here a similar list up to Chronicle 22. 6, but it needs to be wikified and translated from Spanish. The commentaries, as the references to Antiquities of the Jews (Aj.) and Jewish Wars (Gj.), could be erased. I do not have time to do it, but it may help you to complete this article. --Amizzoni Talk 22:34, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am new here but if anyone understands how to edit things I think Abasalom is PERSON not a PLACE! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.75.76.200 (talk) 21:33, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested Merge[edit]

  • Opposed to merger. I, personally, am against merging this article with List of modern names for biblical place names, because its approach and format are different. Whoever started the latter article obviously intended to also mention place names in the Christian Bible, for which reason we decided to make two separate sections for easy recognition of these place names and their respective origins.Davidbena (talk) 15:21, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merger we can fix the formatting and improve both articles significantly. Onceinawhile (talk) 21:09, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal: Stripping out descriptions[edit]

I propose that we strip out or at least shorten the descriptions found in this list. Instead of trying to quickly define each item, which, to do right, would likely wind up requiring citations all over the list, why not just leave the bare names, or in special cases maybe a couple of names of the place, and then just let curious readers click through?

Since this seems to be a fairly quiet page, I'll probably just wait a few days and, if no one objects, just do it. If anyone does have a serious objection, I'd be interested to hear any other suggestions for improving the list. There seems to be a certain "uneven" quality to it at the moment. Kingdoms of the Old Testament[edit]

Israel is definitely not the country where all the places of the old testament were found. These kingdoms were empires. The king's were like emperors. Israel is in length around 250 km and 50 km in breath.

A galloping horse goes this stance in 4 hours and 1 hour respectively. That is too small. It would be the size of an empires capital. Countries and places exchange names and territory through time.

Moses walked for 40 years in the wilderness after escaping Egypt. At an adult male pace we can walk 730 thousand kilometers in this time. That is the distance of 18 times around the Earth. So before Moses we have no idea where Jerusalem and Nazareth was.

After this all kings battled for Jerusalem. Therefore it is not known which places were named Jerusalem. It is the capital city of the kingdom of a king who builds the kingdom for God. It may have been in Babylon then in Addis Ababa, Damascus, Cairo and now in the Palestine (and Israeli) capital Jerusalem. 95.91.214.178 (talk) 08:46, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
