Split off from main article Heath Ledger[edit]

This was created apparently as a split off section from the main article Heath Ledger; the redundant section has been moved out of that main article now with a template cross-referencing this "List" (section). --NYScholar (talk) 20:23, 19 December 2008 (UTC). [Corr. changed title of "List". --NYScholar (talk) 21:19, 19 December 2008 (UTC)] [Note: meant to type "typography" in my edit summ. of the moves! Grammar also a reason for the changed title.--NYScholar (talk) 21:23, 19 December 2008 (UTC)][reply]

Source citations?[edit]

Though much of the material in this "List" seems to have derived from the Internet Movie Database, Wikipedia policies and guidelines (See, e.g., WP:CITE, WP:RS, and WP:EL) do not permit use of the IMDb.com for source citations. More reliable and verifiable sources needed if the items are not already sourced properly in Wikipedia-linked articles on the awards throughout, though, even if they are, such sources may be needed to presented as source citations for this "List" of awards and nominations. The "TBD" apparently means "to be determined" and that is one of the reasons for the "current event" template, as the "List" information will change as source citations document changing events affecting the list. Some nominations might, e.g., become awards "won" and new posthumous awards may occur (e.g., possibly a posthumous Academy Award nomination (Jan. 2009) for "Best Supporting Actor" and/or winning of that award (Feb. 2009). --NYScholar (talk) 21:43, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are ample secondary sources for most awards as well as direct organizational sources for some of them. However, there is no policy or guideline that holistically prohibits the use of IMDb for sourcing. There is some content on IMDb that is considered unreliable due to sourcing of it, but I've never seen anyone doubt the validity of awards and nominations. I'm not sure that the current event template is applicable here - the rapid changes would be on certain days when nominations are announced or awards given. I'd suggest postponing a lot of work on this article until consensus is reached on several issues on the main Heath Ledger page. Wildhartlivie (talk) 03:53, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pre FL[edit]

  • Unlink North American per WP:OVERLINK
    • Done.
  • In 2006, he starred in the Australian romantic drama Candy, in which Ledger was nominated in the category for Best Actor; Ledger was nominated for an AFI, Film Critics Circle, and Inside Film award. -- the last part needs rewording
    • I've removed the awards, I think just adding that he was nominated for "Best Actor" should help. If not, I really need a suggestion.
      • The only thing, re add which awards he was nominated for in that category.
        • I re-added the awards.
  • Ledger received a number of posthumous awards and honours. -- a number of --> numerous
    • Done.
  • Posthumously, he shared the 2007 Independent Spirit Robert Altman Award with the rest of the ensemble cast for the 2007 biographical film I'm Not There. -- since its already stated that these are posthumous awards, no need to begin the sentence as that
    • Done.
  • In his penultimate film performance, Ledger was nominated for and won awards for his portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight (2008). -- the two fors make this sentence hard to read
    • Suggestion?
      • was nominated and awarded for his...?--Truco 03:30, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
        • Added suggestion.
  • Notes:Shared with rest of the ensemble cast, director, and casting director of I'm Not There. -- remove the period
    • Has been removed.
