Alphabetisation[edit]

Please do not alphabetise this list as it is pseudogeographical for ease of comparing countries and regions with more extreme variations.Lacunae (talk) 22:52, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Country banners?[edit]

Maybe it would be better to tag this for WP:WikiProject Europe instead for every single country. It seems to be a clearly Europe-related topic, and I assume more and more countries could be added over time, making the banner list quite unwieldy. Anyway, just a suggestion. @GermanJoe: I agree. I removed these country banners--Estopedist1 (talk) 12:44, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Czechia[edit]

As per the proposed guidelines:

== Country name ==
Czech Republic is the usual name in English for the country and hence the appropriate title for the main article per WP:COMMONNAME. However, the alternative name "Czechia" is also used by some sources and editors may reflect that too. Editors should not change Czech Republic to Czechia or vice versa except to provide consistency within an article.

UK and Ireland Sections[edit]

Section 2.3 features records for Ireland (i.e. the Republic of Ireland) whilst 2.5 includes records for UK and (Republic of) Ireland which includes some of the records also included in Section 2.3. Might it be more logical for Section 2.5 be used exclusively for UK records and the Republic of Ireland records all merged into Section 2.3?

There is a complication in that Section 2.3 seems to include only official Met Eireann records whilst some Irish records in Section 2.5 are from Burt publications. However, I am sure the two sources could be distinguished somehow in a combined Section 2.3 for all Republic of Ireland records.

Differentiating the UK and Rep. of Ireland sets is the ultimate goal. The UK section is based on the UK and Ireland figures from the Met Office which have UK and Ireland values combined. I've been somewhat reluctant to separate them due to concerns about original research and synthesis. Hopefully the Met Office now have chance to update their figures, It would be helpful to have some slightly better sources to some of the UK only data too. Also there is some natural overlap, I think an Irish record is less than 1km from the UK border, so looking for a UK only value would probably lead to it being overlooked.Lacunae (talk) 18:32, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
