To incorporate Reference works of Jehovah's Witnesses, this list probably should be split up into sections:

  • Books
  • Magazines
  • Brochures
  • Tracts
  • Reference works

At the moment there is no indication of what any publication is, whether book, tract, etc. --K. AKA Konrad West TALK 00:48, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

Recategorisation

I've started recategorising the publications, but need someone knowledgeable (or who has access to these publications) to help with the old ones, as they aren't refered to on the internet.

It would also be good to indicate which publications are out of print, which are no longer being printed and those currently being printed. --K. AKA Konrad West TALK 04:35, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

recategorized other into respective categories

I would like some to look over it to double check that I got it correct.--Greyfox 02:21, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

The organization of the article

It think that it would be more natural to make kind of a chronological order of the publications rather than the way it is organized at the momennt. What do you think? Summer Song 06:39, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I was thinking it could be more clear, but wasn't sure how it should be done. The only problem with chronological is that you lose info about the purpose/use of the publication. Perhaps we could have an alternate List of Jehovah's Witnesses literature (chronological) article? --K. AKA Konrad West TALK 00:51, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

Maybe the publications should be arranged by decade. And maybe a short commentary should be placed by every one on what publication it is. That seems better than the way it is made right now. Summer Song 12:54, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Sounds good. Be bold and let's see how it turns out! --K. AKA Konrad West TALK 22:24, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
I have reordered the lists into reverse-chronological order (keeping superceded publications with their new versions). I have also moved the 'song books' and 'for evangelism training' sections into the 'for members' section.--Jeffro77 04:51, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Why move this article?

Summer Song,

Why did you move this article? I think the title should retain "Jehovah's Witness" and not be changed to Watchtower. Dtbrown 16:57, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

The article should be renamed "List of Jehovah's Witnesses publications". Their literature states (since 2001) that it is published by "Jehovah's Witnesses", not "Watchtower Society". The current heading is erroneous.--Jeffro77 11:58, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
In my understanding, the change to "Published by Jehovah's Witnesses" does not reflect any actual change, i.e. the copyrights are still held by the various Watchtower corporations, but is instead a PR tactic, the name "Jehovah's Witnesses" being much more recognizable than "Watchtower Society" to the general public. I personally favor taking the same approach here, but I also feel either name is appropriate.Belteshazzar293 14:30, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Missing Items?

I just wanted to point out a few missing items. The first is in tracts: there are only five listed, but there must be at least 27 (the last one, All Suffering Soon To End! is labeled T-27, and What Hope for Dead Loved Ones? is T-16, so logically...). As well, under tracts there might be included a subhead for the Kingdom News series, which are the tracts published for special distribution. The latest was The End of False Religion Is Near! (2006) which is labeled kn-37.

I also would like to see a heading for publications for non-Christians, such as From Kurukshetra to Armageddon-And Your Survival, aimed at Hindus (just an example).

I would do it myself, but i don't have a complete list yet, and posting an incomplete list torments my perfectionist soul. That and I don't really know how, I'm new at this. So if someone could help me out here it would be great. Belteshazzar293 13:58, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I think it's really important to list the really old material (Millions Now Living Will Never Die, The Time is at Hand) from around 1900, since this is the literature upon which the movement was founded, when there was an enormous expansion in anticipation of 1914 58.178.156.160 (talk) 06:02, 21 December 2008 (UTC)snaxalotl

So I put aside my perfectionism and started work on this page, but I still would like some input on what I'm doing.

One thing I'm going to leave for a more experienced editor is what to do with the rest of the "unsorted" section, I cleaned up some of it but I'm not sure what to do with the rest. For example, "Divine Rulership" and "Divine Victory" are transcripts of discourses given at international assemblies in '72 and '73. Where are they supposed to go? Article deleted in Wikipedia Bahasa Indonesia

Please note that this article is deleted in Wikipedia Bahasa Indonesia because it sounded like an ad. open discussion is held to review the article and the writer is asked to defend the reasoning why the article shouldn't be deleted. In his defend he said "because it exist in other language". Please note that Wikipedia Bahasa Indonesia is an independent community and have every local right to delete when felt like an article is unappropriated. On five pillars basis, "one should fix when one can" crossed the "one should not publish an ad" or "writing should be neutral". This article in Bahasa Indonesia is both ad and not neutral (one sided). The community rule out the article should exist and opt to delete in vote 9:1

Btw, the one caught canvassing 20 times. Thanks Serenity id (talk)
What made the Bahasa Indonesia sound like an ad? Is there information in it that is different from the English version?John196920022001 (talk)

It sounded like a menu from a restaurant, complete with receive mail order. Other user think it is looks more like a catalog than it is an article. It consist of lists of books, yes? Sounded more like (an ad than it is an article) menu that you can order. I suggested the writer, that content wise he should have his own website for this - then he will be free to elaborate his cause or elaborate further on what he really meant - instead of using Wikipedia, which is convenient and we all know will pop up# 1 in google search. In closing, if this answer is not satisfactory (cos I don't visit often or at all to en): We appreciate those who tell us that we shouldn't delete the article, yet bare in mind that it doesn't mean that we couldn't. Serenity id (talk)

I appreciate that you "can" delete ANY article that is not deemed appropriate. As I read it, it looks like an INFORMATIONAL page, NOT an advertisement. This is a NON-PROFIT organization and all of their publications are FREE. How can it be an "ad"? If it were a commercial business THEN it may be construed as an advertisement, but it's a RELIGIOUS NOT-FOR-PROFIT. (Your position sure comes across as one of bias & prejudice than one simply trying to keep Wiki free of commercialism. You probably don't mean that to be the case but your lack of valid reason makes it cound like that; at least to me, and probably thousands of other people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bturpen (talkcontribs) 00:06, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Verifiability of introduction???

I found three sources of information at the bottom of this article.

The first one was a link to the official Watchtower Society website listing only the following publications: The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, What Does the Bible Really Teach?, The Secret of Family Happiness, Is There a Creator Who Cares About You?, Questions Young People Ask—Answers That Work, The Bible—God’s Word or Man’s?, The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived, Pay Attention to Daniel's Prophecy!, Mankind’s Search for God, My Book of Bible Stories, Jehovah’s Witnesses—Who Are They? What Do They Believe?, How Can Blood Save Your Life?, Should You Believe in the Trinity?, The Watchtower and Awake!

The second one was a link to the official Watchtower Society website listing Watchtower and Awake articles that don't appear in this article.

The third one was a link to a Wikia web page called Watchtower Classic Library that can be contributed to by anyone." There is also a note that contributions should be "expired copyright."

Most of the information contained in the introduction to this article is not verified by any of these sources. Mandmelon (talk) 09:22, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
