York 1970[edit]

The Who played Central Hall in 1970 not Derwent College. I was there. BosworthGeordie (talk) 00:19, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements[edit]

Okay, this has been on my "things to get round to doing" for ages now, but I've never been happy about the various "The Who Tour xxxx" articles. The Who just casually gigged up to 1970, and tours after that were still just done based on when the band were available, and shouldn't be arbitrarily split by year. I think we can make a much better job of it in a single article, and I'm pleased that Chrisnait has picked up the mantle and started doing this. I'll go and grab my copy of Neill & Kent's book, which is (IMHO) the best source for 1963-78 tour dates and see what I can do. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:07, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking of merging The Who 1962–63 performances and The Who 1964 performances to create The Who 1962–1964 performances or The Who's early performances. I will continue my long-term project to clean up the Who tour articles with this new article, and I'll add new citations and information not used on List of The Who tours and performances. How does that sound? Chrisnait (talk) 21:59, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there's any point at the moment. The article as it stands is only 14K of prose - you could probably double what's already there without it getting too unmanageable. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 23:23, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What article are you talking about (the article as it stands is only 14K of prose)? Also, The Who 1962–63 performances is entirely a list of tour dates and a few sentences about the band during that period, and The Who 1964 performances isn't very different. Additionally, the 62-63 page fails to report on an important gig in the band's history, and both pages have no footnotes. A new article fixing the problems with the last two pages would be good. Some people might not have been happy with separate pages for each Who tour, but some of us appreciated having that information on set lists, and the history behind each tour on here. Now at best we've got a brief summary.

Ive reverted the deletion of the pages, you're doing a good job but there is no need to delete all the pages once. How about just deleting the pages when youve finished the update for the tour?
