Speculation, crush cruft, one-off "revelations", etc[edit]

In this edit I removed a lot of recently-submitted content that I found problematic. This article has been prone to a lot of cruft and it's important we mitigate the addition of more. Of the content I removed, a lot of it contained speculation about "possible" love interests, "appears to have become good friends with" and things of that nature. I also don't think the tradition of adding seemingly one-off revelations is helpful, for example: "In 'Frights,Camera, action!', it is reveled that he dreams of being an actor someday." Unless these "revelations" can be shown to be recurring characteristics (for instance if the character is always pursuing a dream of being an actor after this) then it's a one-off piece of information that doesn't adequately describe who the character is. There's no indication from the main Monster High article that the stories are presented as a serialization, as opposed to stand-alone stories. If the latter, series of these types are typically written with "reset buttons", where things that happen in one episode don't necessarily become canon.

It is also worth noting that per MOS:TV, we're not here to catalog every character in the series, only the most important ones. "Not every fictional character ever created deserves to be listed..." If we're talking about characters who have only appeared once or twice in the series, they should probably be cut. More comprehensive lists can be kept offsite at Wikia or wherever. There are 54 characters that are on the Monster High website. 43 Ghouls and 11 Mansters. Of these, there are 6 that are classified as Original and have a prominent placement on the website. HERE The rest of the 48 characters should be listed under secondary characters in alpha order, perhaps grouped under students, alumni, staff and others. The pets do not need their own profiles so they should be merged with the character's section. I agree one-off characters should be removed. Significant new characters from the books and television show are fine as long as they have a major role in that series. -AngusWOOF (talk) 19:32, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've trimmed the list to the 54 characters into Original Ghouls (the main 6), Ghouls, and Mansters. (i.e. no students, staff, alumni and others breakdown). Depending on the series, some of the secondary characters under Ghouls and Mansters might actually have starring roles. The bulk of the other characters have been commented out. If there's a need to subsection it further, please discuss. At least according to the website they have them all clustered for your reference. Given that only the headmistress was the only notable staff to have a doll / web profile, there wasn't much point in splitting the section that way. -AngusWOOF (talk) 20:47, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Character guidelines[edit]

Some of the key information to include for each character.

  • Name of character
  • Brief description. Physical is okay. Refer to website.
  • Relation to monster in fiction. (e.g. daughter of Dracula)
  • Current occupation (student, alumni, staff, not affiliated). If student, specify relation to the main six characters (roommate, classmate, friend)
  • When and where was the character first introduced or will be released. Cite press releases.
  • Any particular groups the character is associated?
  • Debut in web series and role significance (star, recurring character, episodic star, background) and novels.
  • Major storylines from web series and novels.
  • Voice actor if applicable.
  • Development of the character if known.

Notability for other characters

  • Do they have a major and recurring role in the web series?
  • Do they have a major role in the novels?
  • Are they specially noted in reliable sources?

Semi-protected edit request on 7 October 2015[edit]

Hi I would I like to ask you whether you could please add Mouscedes King, Elle Eedee, Luna Mothews, Astranova and Gooliope Jellington, because they've all made their debuts in the special Boo York Boo York and in webisodes 81.132.68.199 (talk) 11:48, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Are these characters notable or regulars for the television series? Have they been added to the web site? Do they have dolls? Otherwise they are incidental /guest characters that do not need to be listed. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:30, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've added the ones that have received profiles on their official website. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:07, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Since Frankie is first I think that Draculaura should be second, Clawdeen should be second, Lagoona should be fourth, Cleo should be fifth, and Ghoulia should be sixth oh and you should add Manny Taur to the mansters oh and Toralei Stripe is now voiced by Paloma Rodriguez

Not done: I don't understand this request: why would we need to change the order of the characters? Is there a [[WP:RS}] which establishes which ones are more important? If not, then the current order is probably fine. RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 21:52, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Treesa Thornwillow, Silvi Timberwolf...[edit]

I would like to add them, but it's private :) MikaelEmanuelsson (talk) 14:38, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Frankie Stein section[edit]

This statement in Frankie’s section, “with the change attributed to their lack of societal norms and the use of various male and female body parts in their creation”, is unsourced and, as far as I know, doesn’t have basis in canon. It has just been used by fans to “justify” their nonbinary identity (which, in my opinion, shouldn’t need justification — they don’t need a reason to be nonbinary, they just are). It should most likely be removed. Redandsymmetry (talk) 20:36, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Additions of G3/2022 reboot content[edit]

Hi! If anyone's been looking at any of my edits on this page, you can see I've been attempting to make edits regarding how the information of the generation three characters are displayed. I particular have an issue with how the page seemed to present the first live-action movie as the main G3 canon; I think that referencing should go to the animated series if anything, as it contains elements more associated with the new dolls (like how the music videos on YouTube advertise the dolls using content/lore from the show). I just want anyone to double check if the content for the G3 iterations/original characters is fine as it is, needs to be tweaked, and how the content should be dispalyed moving forward. article clean-up[edit]

This article is in dire need of cleaning. Please, if you edit this- Don’t let your being a fan affect the way you write the edits. This is an overview of the characters and relations to eachother, not meant to be complete biographies and every piece of information of them. Ferntheplant (talk) 10:11, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
