Splitting the article[edit]

Back in July somebody started splitting this article but appears to have given up shortly after starting. Season articles were not split out correctly (see WP:SPLIT). There was no attribution, the title capitalisation was wrong (The pages should be at Mister Ed (season x), not Mister Ed (Season x), they did not expand substantially on the season list, which had been hacked to remove all episode information beyond season 2 without explanation. Aside from this there were WP:REDNOT and MOS:& breaches, use of tv.com in citations (tv.com is not a reliable source for episode information), the season 2 article had not been coloured correctly, and so on. Since 2 months had elapsed with no further action, it seemed best to start from scratch using the correct article titles so I've reverted the split and restored all missing content, including the s3-S6 information that was deleted completely. The best way to proceed is to rebuild this article and then split if sufficient content can be created for individual season articles. This user did not give up: this user has not had the time to continue the splitting project. The process of splitting the seasons was based on the exact format used for List of Everybody Loves Raymond episodes and Everybody Loves Raymond (season 1). Few more items: hacking was not done by me. WP:REDNOT breaches were based on what was previously listed. Who agreed to the decision that the best way to proceed is to rebuild this article and then split if sufficient content can be created for individual season articles? Everybody Loves Raymond list of episodes and each season breakdown is nearly identical, with Amazon as its main source. There is no sufficient content there. The proper thing to do is contact the user who created the articles, ask what the intent was, and after communication has been made, then pick up where the user left off. Splitting articles is supposed to be carried out in accordance with the instructions provided at WP:SPLIT. As explained at WP:PROSPLIT, To conform with Wikipedia's licensing requirements, which require that content contributors receive attribution, the page receiving the split material must have an edit summary noting "split content from [[article name]]". (Do not omit this step or omit the page name.) A note should also be made in the edit summary of the source article, "split content to [[article name]]". It is a requirement of Wikipedia's licensing that attribution be given to the main content author(s). We normally use {{split from}} and {{split to}} on article talk pages to make this easy. While you may not have had time to finish the split, your actions made it look like you had given up (you've made over 900 edits elsewhere since then). According to this edit summary you removed all episode listings from the article for seasons 3-6.

"Who agreed to the decision that the best way to proceed is to rebuild this article and then split if sufficient content can be created for individual season articles?" - Your edits left this article in somewhat of a mess, devoid of season 3-6 content with a whole pile of bad links. The content that was removed had to be restored and then converted to use {{Episode list}}. That's a lot easier to do when it's all in one place. As you can see, I've completed for seasons 3-6 now and it didn't take 2 months to do.

Everybody Loves Raymond is not FA or even GA, so the articles are not good examples. They haven't been split properly either. Your restoration of the incorrectly capitalised articles is not productive. In the last day I've made quite a few changes and corrections to the episode tables in this list to bring them up to a standard that was subject to considerable discussion when we reworked {{Episode list}} for MOS compliance. You've restored tv.com as a source, which is inappropriate as previously explained. There simply is no justification for the existence of these articles as they stand, they substantially duplicate content in this article while not expanding upon it. incorrect episode title[edit]

Season 3 Episode 3 - 55 in series is titled as "William, the Good Samaritan". I suspect it's actually 'Wilbur, the Good Samaritan'. But I don't have any substantial reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Djk44883 (talk • contribs) 23:41, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
