Untitled[edit]

On 19 April 2020 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Drmies added a maintenance tag citing issues with some of the sources being unreliable and also stating that the article read like an advertisement. Being a list, I'm not sure how it reads like anything other than a list of books.

Concerning the unreliable sources, I'm curious about which sources were being flagged as unreliable. Without manually inspecting nearly 200 source references and knowing what this admin considers to be "unreliable", I have no idea how to correct that particular issue.

As for reading like an advertisement, I thought that particular issue was resolved back when the article was created and reviewed by removing any links to commercial sites like the publisher's website or online book sellers. That is not to say that such links haven't crept back in over the past couple of years.

While I would love to improve this article and correct any issues the admins have with it, it's hard to know exactly what's wrong based on a tag generated by an automated maintenance program.

Inappropriate external links[edit]

Having not heard from the admin that added the “Multiple Issues” maintenance tag (No surprise there.), I started looking into the problems cited. One thing I saw, which I remembered from when I was initially writing this page and trying to get it approved, was that links to external COMMERCIAL sites are considered inappropriate. To clarify, a link to Amazon or Bookwalker is not acceptable. A link to Google Books (an encyclopedic reference) is. Using links to J-Novel Club, while convenient, is not appropriate because it does not meet the Wikipedia standard as a third-party reference. Also, since the linked to page typically allows for purchasing the book, would most likely be considered to be an adverisment. Links to the previously mentioned Google Books does qualify as a third-party reference.

That being said, as time permits, I will go thru the article and remove any J-Novel Club links and replace them with third-party references. I ask that everyone that edits the article assist with this effort.

well, about the "links to external COMMERCIAL sites(AKA: online selling pages links)".

I have to state that the used "third party referenced links to Google Books" they are in use now IT ALSO GIVE the user the choice to bought it from (but off course) "Google Books", With I do not see any difference to link them for any other "Well stablished" Digital Book seller, like the cited; "Kobo, Bookwalker, Amazon, etc."

Truth is some are not available in every other Country... but still.

Finished translations table is misleading. Can it be split into Finished and Aborted?[edit]

The page implies that series in the "Finished translations" section are completed, as the "Titles that are completed" section states "These are titles that have completed publication in Japan. Once fully translated they will be moved to the Finished translations section". However, "Seriously Seeking Sister! Ultimate Vampire Princess Just Wants Little Sister; Plenty of Service Will Be Provided!" is incomplete, as there are published web novel chapters past the last published light novel.

There are no further light novels in Japanese, so from a light novel perspective the page is accurate. However, IMO, it is misleading, as it could easily be interpreted (as I did originally) to mean that the series has finished, with the web novels being complete, all web novels being adapted, etc. I think it's an important distinction, because it means that reading to the end of a title in the Finished section does not necessarily guarantee a proper ending.

Could this section be split into two sections, where one section indicates fully completed titles, and the other indicates titles where adaptation of the web novel was simply aborted after a point? 2600:8800:7000:33:0:0:0:144 (talk) 20:18, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Differences from JNC novel list[edit]

"Banner of the Stars" doesn't seem to be listed as a series on the JNC site. The following series are listed on JNC, but not on the Wikipedia page: "Culinary Chronicles of the Court Flower", "The Bloodline". 2600:8800:7000:33:0:0:0:144 (talk) 21:25, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JNC ~MANGA series[edit]

Should we add the Manga series in the same list? ... or should we create a new separate page for them? Since for quite long ago, JNC has started to licensing MANGA too. Mainly their own Light Novel Series, but also some titles without linked Light Novels. ( Or at the very least, LN's that they do not have the publishing rights.
