All time[edit]

Is it worth doing a Top 10 All time topscorers? We'll need info about all the scorers of all the competitions though, since counting only the top scorers of each year is not enough. Mariano(t/c) 07:13, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good, but what exactly will the list comprise? Will it count goals from all the tournaments? (e.g. Libertadores, UEFA Champions League, World Cup, Supercopa, Euro Cup etc.). If so, it will take a while to make the list but I'll be glad to help. Bruno18 14:16, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I understand now. Well,in that case it won't be very hard as the RSSSF website already has an all-time top scorers list: click here (the list is on the bottom after the year-by-year topscorers). I made the list Mariano. Let me know what you think about it and feel free to edit the article if you don't like the format. BTW since you're the Argentinian football expert can you confirm if Juan Carlos Sanchez is Argentinian or Bolivian? (he's last in the all-time topscoring list). CONMEBOL website says he's Argentinian but the RSSSF website says he's Bolivian. Bruno18 16:19, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just great! Sánchez was born in Formosa Province, Argentina[1]. I don't know if he ever nasionalized Bolivian, but in any case it should appear as Argentine. Thanks for the good work! Mariano(t/c) 08:03, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Luizão scored 29 goals according to CONMEBOL's Website (click for link). However, with the inclusion of Luizão to the table this no longer represents the top 10 all time scorers list. Should we delete the last entries (Acosta, Palhinha, etc.) to make this a top 10 list or leave it like it is now? In my opinion it needs to stay the way it is now. Going in the wrong direction[edit]

This article seems to be going in the wrong direction. The list by year should only include THE topscorer (or whoever else is tied at #1), because that's all that really matter. Officially, the award is not called Golden Boot, and CONMEBOL does not award a Silver or Bronze boot. There is no reason to include them and is statistical overkill that goes against WP:NOTSTATS.
