Issues for consideration[edit]

Some issues for consideration:

  • It includes Premiers from all States of Australia who have served 1,000 days or more
Why say "from all States of Australia"? Would we ever have a list that showed the Premiers of Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, but not the other three states?
  • ... but excludes Prime Ministers
... as if they were already included in "Australian State Premiers" and needed to be separated out?
  • We show the Chief Ministers in their correct position in the list, but do not give them a rank number. We also make no mention of them in the intro. Are they in or out? By strict adherence to the title, they're not premiers and don't belong here at all. However, if we widened it to List of Australian heads of government by time in office, they'd be more than welcome. But then, we'd have to include Prime Ministers too. But I would welcome that. Surely, the main value of this list is comparative; that is, it's interesting to realise that John Bannon was in office longer than Don Dunstan, or that Anna Bligh will soon overtake Jack Lang's term of office. Etc. It would also be interesting to see how Bob Menzies, John Howard and Bob Hawke compare with some of the premiers. But who debates whether Nick Greiner was the 71st or the 72nd longest serving Premier? Precisely nobody. In fact, I see no purpose in having rank numbers at all. Get rid of them, make Chief Ministers first-class members of the list rather than second-class, and include Prime Ministers.
