Merge with package store?

Support. A package store is another name for liquor store. (Alphaboi867 22:10, 2 June 2006 (UTC))

Support. And we should merge off-license as well. rasblue 01:49, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Support merging. Term is too localized in usage for its own article. Don't forget to add a mention of the idiomatic verb to do/make a packie run (to visit a liquor store for the purpose of making a purchase)! :) --Jayzel 17:47, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

United States section

It has no citation for any of the information, and, specifically (although this is original research, it's also probably verifiable) the Massachusetts section is false, as I can purchase hard liquor at Stop & Shop (grocery store) in Malden MA.--Vidkun 18:12, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Much of the state-by-state information is covered in the Alcohol_laws_of_the_United_States_by_state section. There is also additional/similar information in the Last_call_(bar_term) section.

only in liquor stores

In the USA section either the title "List of regions in which sale of alcohol is restricted to dedicated liquor stores" should be changed or states where all alcohol can be in grocery stores should be deleted. (Alphaboi867 19:43, 20 August 2006 (UTC))

Untitled

Virginia has sale of liquor limited to its ABC stores as well.

Distinction between state-run, and private contractor or agency liquor stores are needed.

Oceania

There's much that's incorrect regarding the Australia section here. Some states call it a Bottle-o (Queensland, NSW), some call it a drive-through (Victoria). Also, for many years the major supermarkets and even the smaller ones have had a liquor section, i.e Safeway Liquor.

The article mentions that in Victoria and the ACT, alcohol can be bought from supermarkets and convenience stores. This is incorrect.

Also, local governments have a say in the sale of alcohol. For example, the city of Whitehorse in eastern Melbourne is a 'dry area'. There are no bars or take-away bottleshops, but you can buy liquor from the supermarket to drink at home.

Probably this section of the article should be properly researched or deleted, as it is highly inaccurate. 60.44.255.146 11:06, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. And never heard 'bottle-o' before, in QLD nor NSW... 144.139.175.46 10:22, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

South Africa

In South Africa, wine can be sold in supermarkets. All other alcoholic beverages (including Beer) can only be sold in "Bottle Stores" (Liquor stores). Firefishy (talk) 18:21, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Caribbean

The "Rum shop" is the bar which can also sell a bottle at whole sale cost usually. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.99.192.106 (talk) 18:21, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
