"practitioners of linguistics"[edit]

The opening paragraph includes this sentence: "Although they lack a uniform approach to quantifying linguistic distance between languages, practitioners of linguistics use the concept in a variety of linguistic situations...."

Why use the clunky term "practitioners of linguistics"? Why not just say "linguists"? Omc (talk) 00:51, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
