Anti-MLK collusion with FBI[edit]

Given this NYT piece (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/02/us/black-evangelist-elder-michaux-opposed-dr-king.html) that came out yesterday, this article should probably have a section on his work with the FBI, right? CarlSandburgPI (talk) 05:56, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw this, don't know why I didn't see it sooner. I read the NYT article and have the original 50 page article by Lerone Martin. Not sure yet if it's fair to say that Elder Michaux collaborated with the FBI on this. He may have been manipulated by the FBI and the US government into condemning MLK. I'll be back. I read the Lerone Martin article and I agree that it represents a serious aspect of Elder Michaux' life and legacy. I think it deserves a thoughtful section on this page. I'm convinced that Elder Michaux cooperated enthusiastically with the FBI, and I know from previous research that he disagreed with Dr. King's philosophy and methodology. I think it is very interesting to look at this in context as well, since his point of view on racial relations was probably fairly mainstream in his day -- his "cordial relationship" with the FBI began in 1939. I always felt that Elder Michaux was somewhat of a pioneer in race relations in his earlier days and that he just didn't get with the times when they changed in the late 50's and early 60's. When he was arguing (and losing) in court he is quoted as saying that Virginia's ungodly segregation laws "must stop at the threshold of God's House".
