Smoothing help after translation from German[edit]

I've translated this article from the German version and have stayed for the most part rather closely to the German phrasings. I am sure this will sound a bit akward in English in many places. So if there's a native speaker or someone with a good grasp of English style out there who would like to smooth the rough edges out, I would be quite happy.

In addition, I was not sure about some conventions, so if someone wanted to help me out there I'd be happy to work together:

  • When do you put quotations marks on something that was a direct quotation in the German version, but has be translated by me as a lay person, and when not?
  • Do you translate/omit things like "Verlag" = "publisher" when referencing the German sources?
  • Do you give translations for the German titles of references?
  • Is "†" for "died" usable in English, too, or is this a purely German thing?

Thanks for any input! Daranios (talk) 07:34, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
