Split?[edit]

I hesitate to suggest a split for such a short, stub-class article. As it stands, however, the article introduces two different topics: the etymology of various African place names, and an event in the history of Manhattan. These two topics are not really related, and might be better treated on separate pages. Cnilep (talk) 16:04, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree that this is deserving of a separate article. Both uses are approximately equivalent - they were terms used by outsiders to designate a piece of territory. The separation in time between Ancient Greece and colonial New York doesn't mean the usage is really different.Eggishorn (talk) 00:39, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
