Wondering how to edit the article? The WikiProject Philippine LGUs could be of help. :)

Los Baños Special Science and Nature City

On August 7, 2000, Los Baños was declared as a "Special Science and Nature City of the Philippines" through Presidential Proclamation No. 349 in recognition as a center for science and technology in the development of agriculture and preservation of the environment.

This does not make Los Baños as a city however. The bill required for it to be converted to a component city like Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, was stalled in congress prior to P.D. 349. Also, not even a plebiscite was held. Los Baños does not satisfy legal conditions, under the local government code, to be officially a city and is not even in any listing of cities of the Philippines. Fair use rationale for Image:Ph seal laguna.png

Image:Ph seal laguna.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Laguna (province)Province of Laguna – Proposing change because of incorrect and inappropriate naming of this article. Also, this proposed name was also used in some legal documents and on its official site. Kiddie Techie (talk) 07:44, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Oppose. Article titles policy of Wikipedia gives the instruction to name articles based on their common names. The article about Kentucky isn't titled as Commonwealth of Kentucky because that is the official name of the state. Same concept applies here too. In this case, since there are far more than one article is pointed to Laguna, it was disambiguated from the other articles titled as Laguna by putting it as a (province).
Also, please be reminded that you cannot move articles just because you like it, like the one you did in Isabela (province). Please contact people at Tambayan Philippines for more information about naming Philippine provinces.--— JL 09 talkcontribs    10:05, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Oppose: People refer to the province as "Laguna" in everyday speech (WP:COMMONNAME). For example, "I am going to Laguna." No one would say "I am going to the Province of Laguna." Hence "Laguna" with the disambiguator is the proper name. –HTD 03:35, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

– As per WP:NCDAB which states natural disambiguation > comma disambiguation > parenthetical disambiguation. Hariboneagle927 (talk) 15:51, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

  • Support Laguna, natural. Not sure re Aurora. In ictu oculi (talk) 18:47, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
  • Oppose, in the case of "Aurora, Philippines", it is still quite ambiguous because it takes on the form reserved for cities and municipalities (comma convention) and we have two for Aurora: Aurora, Isabela and Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur. The current disambiguation not only makes it clearer, its also consistent with WP:MOSPHIL. Although i do think if there was a natural disambiguation for our provinces, then it would be at <Provincename> Province like Aurora Province. :)--RioHondo (talk) 16:38, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
  • Oppose. Agree with RioHondo. Parenthetical disambiguation is clearer and in line with MOSPHIL. -- P 1 9 9   13:53, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Laguna has its official hymn/march and its nickname

My fellow Wikipedians,

Laguna has its official march. It is called "Martsa ng Laguna", a official hymn/march of the province. It is true, because there is some sources about this march and its nickname. Its has its nickname: Detroit of the Philippines. It has sources too. This hymn/march is found on YouTube. Its nickname was mentioned on any sources about the province. I am very good at history and geography. Thank you. Rdp060707 (talk) 07:01, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

I doubt that "Detroit of the Philippines" is an official nickname (Detroit is a city and this is a province...). Anyone can give anything a nickname, but before we add it here, it needs to be a generally-accepted nickname with references from reliable sources. It doesn't matter how good you are in history and geography, it is WP policy to add proper references. Thank you. -- P 1 9 9   14:49, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
