Sales and certifications of the album[edit]

The user @Santiago Lodré: included a link here that says the album was certified 3x Platinum + Gold, I included this link here years ago and it is still problematic. It says the algum got a gold record and three platinum records, if that were true the album sold 850,000 copies in Mexico, but at the same time the website says it sold 350,000 copies which would be (Platinum+Gold). Months later the same newspaper stated that the CD had sold 450,000 copies there which nullifies the possibility of the 850,000 sold. In several other editions it also says that the album sold 300,000. Paulina said in an interview that she was certified platinum for this album (250,000) but she says it was certified for 600,000 copies! When she was promoting Planeta Paulina she shows the Platinum record of the album (250,000) and the 3x Gold, but it was a separate certification, It was not 3x gold + platinum (550,000), it was Platinum (250,000) and then the updated certificate for 300,000 sold. It seem Santiago Lodré is insisting on including this link here again, what do you think about it @FanDePopLatino: and @Apoxyomenus:?--88marcus (talk) 21:26, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@88marcus: Well I actually have taught about it and 3x Gold in Mexico doesn't even exist because at that time gold was 100k and platinum was 250k so 3x gold would be 300k which is over the platinum. 3x gold + platinum would be 550k so that would just be 2x platinum(500k). If you look at the source closer you would see that it says that the album received 3 gold and a platinum in the "Union America" not in Mexico so other than the platinum in Mexico she was also certified in other countries in America but it doesn't specify which ones. It would be like an artist from Spain certifying a platinum in their native country as well as gold in Italy, Portugal, and France. Then an article saying they certified 3 gold and a platinum in the European union would mean all those since they were all from European countries. I think that's what happened with this album and I actually have tried to find other certifications for La Chica Dorada in Latin America but had no luck. I think we should just keep it at the Platinum in Mexico for now. FanDePopLatino (talk) 22:02, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@FanDePopLatino: Santiago Londré used this link which says "Esta primera producion de la chica dorada obtuvo disco de oro y triple de platino tras haber rebasado las 350,000 en nuestro país", not in American Union. I think she received the Platinum (250,000) before the 3x Gold (300,000) it makes much more sense.--88marcus (talk) 22:18, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@88marcus: oh I see that now but even though he used a new link which says gold+triple platinum he still has it listed the other way (3x gold+platinum). Also the source that he is using for the sales doesn't say 450,000 copies sold it just says 450 copies sold and doesn't specify that it was in Mexico or worldwide. I think that the album possibly sold over 500k just haven't been able to find sources for it or for other certs yet. FanDePopLatino (talk) 22:34, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@FanDePopLatino: Yes. He used the 3x Gold of one source and add a platinum from other one. Because it's hard to believe in the 3 platinum + gold (850,000) when even Paulina shows a platinum and a three time gold for this album. Sources with less problems says it was certified platinum in Mexico not mention of the 3x gold or 3x platinum. The El Siglo del Torreon contradict itself with that sales amount and also it seems it has typos.--88marcus (talk) 22:40, 11 November 2020 (UTC) Maybe we can included something like that: "In 1996, Paulina appeared on Veronica Castro's show where she showed the platinum record she received for the album when it reached 250,000 copies and then the triple platinum disc after selling 300,000 copies in Mexico. @88marcus: Aha! Now that video explains a lot because it shows the certification plaques which say platinum for 250,000 copies and triple gold for 300,000 copies. That means that the album first was certified platinum at 250k and when the sales reached 300k the certification level was upgraded to triple gold. That makes perfect sense because certification upgrade, they don't add up. The other sources makes it look like it was just one certification, which doesn't make sense because a certification for triple gold plus platinum (550k) doesn't exist because once the album reached 500k its certification level wouldn't add up but instead it would just upgrade to double platimun. That video is the best source for the certification level because that video is the most recent source (despite it being 24 years old). I think we should use the triple gold certification since that's the highest certification level shown on the video. FanDePopLatino (talk) 02:57, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@FanDePopLatino: They also showed the 1x Gold record of the album after showing the 3x Gold and the platinum.@Santiago Lodré: it would be great if you came here and talk about the sales of Paulina.
