Copyright issue[edit]

It is not clear from this article what information is trying to be communicated. It appears to be a catalogue of places in India where one might find people with the name "Komarpanth". Since the name is not notable in and of itself, the catalogue likely will not be either. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:28, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}}I have sent a Mail from yogesa(at)gmail(dot)com - owner and copyright holder of [1] and made necessary corrections in the "Copyright violation concern"

In its current form the article appears to have been pieced together from two blog entries, ([2], [3]) and a book excerpt, which, it must be said, has been duly attributed. Taking these out, there won't be much left except a VERY long list of names. Favonian (talk) 20:30, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking into this now (per helpme request) - I'll add more info soon.  Chzz  ►  09:05, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{OTRS pending}}  Chzz  ►  09:07, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have now replaced the 'speedy deletion' template with a 'possible copyright violation' template. This removes the content from view, but the article content actually is still there (if you edit the page). Once the OTRS permission has been processed, then - if it is OK - the OTRS ticket number will be added to this talk page, and the notice on the article will be removed. This may take several days, so please be patient. Thanks.
Once the copyright status is sorted out, then we will see what happens; the article might still be deleted for other reasons, but we need to resolve this matter first.  Chzz  ►  09:23, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorted. -- Pakaran 23:58, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality[edit]

I see quite a few terms in this article that violate a neutral point of view, such as "Charismatic Leadership", "Freedom Fighter", and "its difficult to believe that Komarpanths were robbers and cruel people." I don't know enough about this subject to do much improvement to the article though. Joshua Scott (talk) 19:32, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Major edits[edit]

Hacked out the huge list of non-notable reams of villages where these folks are allegedly found. Removed some overly flowery praise, over detail (which side of the road is the shrine on???), editorial comment, and people changing the content of direct quotes from historic documents, presumably to "improve" them. So the article is now relatively NPOV (though I can't speak to much of the accuracy of it), and about 1/3 of it has some decent footnotes. Also removed the term "Kshatriya" throughout since, despite there being tons of non-notable claims of "Kshatriya Komarpant", no academic mentions it, and British sources all say they're Sudra. Given how popular it is for social groups to suddenly "rediscover" their Kshatriya heritage, this historical revisionism bears watching. MatthewVanitas (talk) 19:06, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
