This page is incredibly heavy on the details of Knute's plane crash, but gives very little information on his playing career or his coaching career. It might even be prudent to slim down the section on the crash (especially that which gives technical details regarding issues with the plane and its manufacturer) in addition to adding more information on his life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aharriso (talkcontribs) 04:53, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Weasel Words?

Is it wrong to assume that there are weasel words in this article? It's mostly just the "considered by many" part. --Averross (utc) 16:31, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

What made this man so prominent was what is listed on his official site as his 25 commandments; could these be placed here?; it was this philosophy which was changing. When he was killed, other schools ignored Notre Dame's principles in order to make football the money-maker it is today rather than a training ground for sportmanship which would last a lifetime. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anne-ology (talkcontribs) 17:10, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Name?

The article states he was born Knute Kenneth Rockne, but the name is spelled Knut in Norwegian and Knute is not an alternate form of the name. The e was likely added to aid English pronunciation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.88.254.225 (talk) 21:34, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree, to me it seems that the last name is also wrong. The full name should be "Knut Rokne". Although I realize that the "american" version of the name deserves a pronounciation of its own, it wouldn't hurt to mention the real name, perhaps with pronouncination.Ståle (talk) 09:14, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Needs More Work

Rockne's career as a student and as a player who was instrumental in the transformation of the forward pass as part of the game deserves mention. Rockne's "eclipse" as the all time winniningest coach in terms of per centage needs both brief elucidation in the article and sourcing. More soon. Sensei48 (talk) 04:47, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Additionally, the crash section - currently longer than the coaching section - needs to be reduced in length. Further, though the loss to Carnegie Tech deserves mention, it should not be the only specific game mentioned. A discussion of several of KR's outstanding seasons (1924, for example) and victories should be included. Sensei48 (talk) 19:17, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
