Genre[edit]

I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, but can this really be considered punk rock? The sound uses many hooks and repetition found within pop music, even if the subject matter is indeed political and anti-authoritarian. Should it instead by labeled pop-punk? You're right about it not being punk rock. I like the band a lot, but I'm sure even they wouldn't consider it to be a punk song. It is even worse. Not only that it is not really Punk Rock, the chorus of the song is a clear copy of a song from a totally different genre. One would probably call it beat-music. In the 1980's the Italian singer Milva performed a song in German that was very successful. Alternative Press quote????[edit]

Alternative Press called the song a "huge rocker" which is a "fierce call to arms against apathy."[citation needed]

I've been looking everywhere for that quote (not including the Citation Needed mark, mind you), and I can't find it on the Alternative Press website. Trying Google, it seems that other sites have referenced the interview (the first four, to be exact), while the next few seem to be links to other AP articles talking about the song, followed by results that have absolutely nothing to do with anything. My point is, the quote definitely exists, but I can't find the source anywhere. Anyone want to try and help me with this? --Montaced (talk) 03:45, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm assuming it was in the actual magazine, they usually just post snippets/summaries of the magazine's articles on their site. This is why I placed the citation tag and didn't just remove it, so we'll have to wait for someone with that issue to confirm the quote and add a reference. Come on, if you heard the song you would know that it's pop punk, because the lyrics, despite being punk, are broad and pop-like, plus its popular and simple "wah hey"s and "oh ay, oh ay"s which sound very pop-like. Orphaned references in Know Your Enemy (Green Day song)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Know Your Enemy (Green Day song)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
