Name[edit]

Seems inane that Killer Kowalski's article was stuck with Wladek Kowalski

Like Rey Mysterio's was with Oscar Gutierrez

Can someone please have this page semi-protected? The recent edits are ALL IP-address logins, who don't quite get that "off life support" =/= DEAD.

Death[edit]

Walter Kowalski died today. I know WrestleZone isn't a *reliable* source, and I don't have the guts to edit anything on this site anymore because everyone rips me to pieces, so I'm just gonna give you the link. Rest in peace... --Kaizer13 (talk) 01:42, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kowalski is NOT DEAD! WrestlingFigs.com, Slam Wrestling & F4Wonline.com all report word direct from his relatives that his condition improved Saturday. Stop this nonsense! EvWill (talk) 01:53, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i swear to god thats not even funny, one of my friends tried to pull that shit. its not funny at all. --Hollywoodd 16:01, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but did you just call him WALTER? Hollywoodd 03:41, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

His wife just gave an update on him and she said that he passed away.None of the reliable sources have said anything though so I thought I'd wait for them to announce it.(MgTurtle (talk) 03:51, 10 August 2008 (UTC)).[reply]

i still refuse to believe anything until wwe.com or pwi.com announces such a thing. Hollywoodd 04:29, 10 August 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kperfekt722 (talkcontribs)

Kowalski has been taken off life support according to wrestlinginc.com but no news on if he is still alive. My prayers go out to his friends and family —Preceding unsigned comment added by Irishfighter4eva (talkcontribs) 07:38, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I (partially) agree with Kperfekt722 here... in the absence of "mainstream" media confirmation, wwe.com will likely be the source. (Since Kowalski trained, among others, HHH.) Until that point, hopefully people can stop regurgitating the same incorrect information. Zipster (talk) 16:08, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

its been added again. wheres the ref from this time? KP317 16:06, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The reference is actually from his website, so I think it's legit this time. What surprises me is that the WWE website doesn't have anything. Wfspma (talk) 17:16, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

im still edgy about this whole thing. remember what happened with his nephew? we'll watch it and see what happens KP317 17:59, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, that was ugly! However, I tripped up on another source that could be deemed reliable:

http://www.caulifloweralleyclub.org/Finishes/cac_finishes_2008.htm#RIPKowalski Wfspma (talk) 18:48, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ehm... well... lets see what happens on this mondays raw, if they mention his passing, obviously thats a green light. i might still handle this under disputed though, so can anyone put one of those templates for that on his page? thx. KP317 21:36, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WWE.com has an item up now on Kowalski's death. There seems no dispute here. http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/killerkowalskipassesaway EvWill (talk) 23:12, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

yeah thats enough proof for me. KP317 23:25, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DevorahLeah (talk) 03:48, 31 August 2008 (UTC) It also moved on the Associated Press and was reported on Boston's WBZ-TV channel 4.[reply]

personal life section[edit]

Is there any reason to have the extra info about why he got married in this section? It seems unnecessary to me.(MgTurtle (talk) 21:49, 11 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I have no real issue with the quote staying or going (though it is kinda funny). I only retrieved it from a very badly formatted reference where the entire quote appeared in the reflist. [1] WWGB (talk) 00:08, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think I might have done with citation.I was doing them wrong for so long but I don't think we need any of the extra stuff. But i think it would be useful to add that this is his only marriage.(MgTurtle (talk) 02:32, 12 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

DevorahLeah (talk) 03:50, 31 August 2008 (UTC) I did a ton of research and added some further information about his life. I think reliable data about someone's marriage, family, whatever is certainly within the scope of a good biography. In this case, the fact that he was a life-long bachelor and finally married when he was 71 seems like an interesting fact to include, so I put it in. Other entries about other people on Wikipedia include unique facts about them... What I added had citations to the newspapers from which it came. I also added in some of what I could find about his early years. Do we now have enough so that it's not a stub any more?[reply]

References[edit]

Here are references for the current unsourced claims in the article:

Knee surjury:

Vegetarian:

Heart attack:

DevorahLeah (talk) 20:53, 30 August 2008 (UTC) I am a media historian and have lots of newspaper articles about his early career. In fact, before he suffered the heart attack on 8 August, I visited and showed him some of them. He got a kick out of the trip down memory lane! But here's what I need-- I have never mastered the Wiki skill of inserting the little numbers for footnotes, so I just use internal footnotes, which is how we do it in academia. If I give the Kowalski page a section on his early history, could somebody then help with editing it so that the style conforms to the accepted wiki style? (The information is VERY reliable, from major newspapers all over the USA, as far back as 1949.)[reply]

IT SAYS ON HIS WEBSITE WALTER "KILLER" KOWALSKI DIED ON AUGUST 30, NOT AUGUST 29! Noble12345 (talk) 20:55, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WWWF World Tag Team Champion?[edit]

I have looked at a number of sources and even here on Wikipedia and there is no mention of Killer Kowalski with any of his gimmicks as being a World Tag Team Champion with Big John Studd. Even WWE.com doesn't even say anything about it. Mr. C.C. (talk) 20:11, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
