Barkan Industrial Park[edit]

it's called " Barkan industrial zone" in the https://pma.pcusa.org/site_media/media/uploads/mrti/pdfs/boycott101_summary-sheet.pdf I think the page works better with the link over there because that page has references that detail complaints about factories there. This page says there was a boycott - the other page says why, along with supporting details MichelleInSanMarcos (talk) 17:57, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

tense on boycott?[edit]

it's written in the past tense, but is there still a boycott and does keter still have a factory there? MichelleInSanMarcos (talk) 18:05, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Keter PlasticKeter Group – This is an incorrect name. Can it be amended to Keter Group please KeterUK (talk) 09:33, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 13:10, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The name is incorrect and needs changing on all sites - UK and Hebrew. If you notice there is no reference to plastic within the description it is resin and the company is not called Keter Plastic but until it is amended here it won't amend in Israel/the Hebrew Version. on the Keter Website it clearly shows just Keter - https://www.keter.com/uk_en/ another reference for the change is - https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/company/1429514D:IT — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellekez63 (talkcontribs) 13:58, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am not connected with the KeterUK account and there was lack of communication within the company. I have stated clearly my connection to the company and I fully understand the Wikipedia conflict of interest guidelines and I am working under the guidelines. > There company name is Keter Group and there is no entity Keter Plastic, not in English and not in Hebrew. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Goni Goder (talkcontribs) 14:30, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is interesting that the text and reference which were added today [1] refer to "Keter Plastic". AllyD (talk) 13:26, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose: I don't see a clear enough case for the proposed name change. There is substantial coverage of this firm under the current "Keter Plastics" article name - not just today's Globes news article about potential flotation, but also for example "BC Partners reportedly to buy 80 percent of Israel's Keter Plastic", Jerusalem Post, "Israeli plastic company sells off 80% to European equity house" Haaterz. It is not uncommon for a company to have a formal "X Group" structure, but the Wikipedia article names tend to follow the firm's name as commonly in use. (Obviously, we could try to maintain readers' likely use by having the article at "Keter Group" plus a redirect at "Keter Plastic" - or vice versa - but I am unconvinced that such structuring is merited here.) AllyD (talk) 14:00, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciate what you are saying about reference to plastic but the main issue is people and website will continue to reference it as Keter plastic if the name is used - its like a snowball once its put out there it will continue to get bigger(used more) if it keeps getting seen. The company is Keter or Keter Group they have never been known as Keter Plastic. if this was amended then reporters or fact finders of the authors of any articles would then use the correct name as this is what they would see. many people myself included will use Wikipedia for reference when writing about something/someone or fact finding. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.156.158.213 (talk) 10:06, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article being referred to by Ally D is from 2016: https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/bc-partners-reportedly-to-buy-80-percent-of-israels-keter-plastic-460955 however, since 2016 keter has acquired 3 more companies which justifies to change the name to "Keter Group" with 7 acquired companies in total. Please can we make this change? THank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellekez63 (talkcontribs) 07:39, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There are so many current articles that do not use the word plastic, but Keter Group. https://www.prnewswire.com/il/news-releases/keter-group-partners-with-ubq-materials-to-produce-sustainable-home-and-garden-goods-at-scale-301271342.html https://www.jns.org/keter-peres-center-unveil-co-existence-themed-exhibition-of-artists-worldwide/ https://www.globenewswire.com/en/news-release/2021/08/26/2286843/0/en/Outdoor-Shed-Market-9-61Bn-by-2028-Growth-Forecast-at-5-5-CAGR-During-2021-to-2028-COVID-Impact-and-Global-Analysis-by-TheInsightPartners-com.html To be found by users, the title of the article should be changed to “Keter Group” and “Keter Plastic” should redirect to “Keter Group”. The article copy will be changed to “Keter Group (former Keter Plastic)…”. The problem is if it is left as Keter Plastic the incorrect name will keep happening. as mentioned before people are using Wikipedia as a reference tool but with the wrong name on the Keter page the issue will get bigger instead of being fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellekez63 (talkcontribs) 08:56, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. There seems to a certain lack of WP:COMMONSENSE to the opposition here. While we don't follow WP:OFFICIALNAME, the company probably knows what its name is. This request is being treated with a level of suspicion which seems to me unwarranted. The company has no apparent interest in having its article moved away from its common name. The RSs cited on each side are pretty thin, but certainly don't show a clear preference for the current name. There is a recognised problem with media sources that they may follow our usage, creating a WP:REFLOOP. Havelock Jones (talk) 07:26, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your support Havelock Jones. I have located some further press which should help in proving that the name Keter Group has wider relevance internationally. Whilst Keter Plastic may be a popular colloquial name in some territories, such as Israel, there are reputable international media sources which do refer to the company by its official name, Keter Group.
Please find below a list of sources, including Forbes, the Financial Times, and other business-reporting publications that explicitly refer to the company as Keter Group, in both dedicated articles and as brief mentions in both news and analysis.

Edit request[edit]

Hello, thank you for approving the recent name change. I also have some proposed changes for the content of the page itself as a way to make it tidier, more accurate, and include more relevant information about the company. I’ve included some sources, but please let me know here or on my talk page if you have any questions.

1. Could the lead be changed to

Keter Group (Hebrew: כתר ‎) is a Global Consumer Products company. Keter operates in 100 countries and has 18 plants across Europe, North America and Isreal.[1] Keter is majority-owned by the private equity firm BC Partners.[2]

2. Could the History section be made more concise, perhaps changed to

Keter was established in Jaffa, Israel in 1948. They began specializing in the production of resin toys and housewares, and were among the first to implement recycled materials into resin-based consumer goods.[3] In 2016, private equity firm BC Partners and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board became the majority owners of Keter. [2]

3. Could the Products section be expanded to the following

Keter designs and produces products for home organization, outdoor storage, furniture and planters, and tool storage. Among other retailers, Keter products are sold by Lowes, Home Depot, ACE, Walmart, Target, IKEA, and Costco as well as e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and Wayfair. Keter has received the Red Dot Design Award: Product Design in 2010 and 2011.[4]

If this is done the Awards section can be removed.

4. Finally, could a ‘Sustainability’ section be added, including the following

In 2021, Keter partnered with UBQ Materials to increase the use of recycled content in their products to 55% by 2025.[3] The commitment to use 55% of recycled content in total production comes alongside other pledges to avoid production of single-use plastic consumer products, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25%, and achieve zero production waste to landfills while creating product end of life programs in all regions.[5]

  • I have applied the first sentence of request 4 above, supported by the Israel Hayom source. Regarding the other proposed changes, I feel item 1 is too vague (e.g. replacing "resin-based household and garden consumer products" with generic "Global Consumer Products"); item 2 is effectively akin to a corporate webpage summary, focussing on the current and removing details on company origin and controversies; item 3 again reads like a corporate webpage. AllyD (talk) 08:27, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for incorporating that change AllyD. I understand what you are saying, but I’m quite eager to edit the History section as, I’m sure you can appreciate, it’s a bit of a mess. How about something between the two, tidying it up whilst keeping most of the information included in the original? Something like
“Keter was established in Jaffa, Israel in 1948, evolving from a small workshop specialising in the production of resin combs, toys, and housewares.[1]
Since 1978, Keter has expanded its home product lines to include garden sheds, toolboxes, bathroom cabinets, backyard playhouses for children, and were among the first to implement recycled materials into resin-based consumer goods.[3]
In June 2013, Keter was one of several companies subjected to a boycott by the United Church of Canada and the Presbyterian Church (USA) because it had a factory in the Barkan Industrial Park.[3][4][5]
In 2016, private equity firm BC Partners and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board became the majority owners of Keter,[2] and in 2021 Keter Group announced plans for an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange and filed a draft prospectus with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Among the underwriters for the offering are Goldman Sachs, Jefferies, JP Morgan, and Bank of America.[8]”
Information about the Red Dot Design Award could be moved to the Products section to make it tidier.
Lastly, if the description of the products were left the same could the lead be updated to include the correct information about the number of plants and avoid repetition?
“Keter Group (Hebrew: כתר ‎) is a manufacturer of resin-based household and garden consumer products. The company operates in 100 countries and has 18 plants across Europe, North America and Isreal.[1] Keter is majority-owned by the private equity firm BC Partners.[2]”
Thanks in advance for considering my suggestions, I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts. River Running By (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 16:25, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
