Removed Bakery advertisement[edit]

Chase Hill Bakery is not notably distinct from the dozens of other businesses in Dock Square, nor is it located in Kennebunkport (Chase Hill is in Kennebunk). REMOVED. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.14.174.57 (talk) 12:36, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Global warming's possible impacts on Kennebunkport[edit]

The Bush family's compound could be submerged due to the effects of global warming: http://www.bangornews.com/news/t/statewide.aspx?articleid=140705&zoneid=500 Badagnani 07:03, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

__NOTOC__[edit]

I put in a __NOTOC__ (no table of contents) because the article should be viewable without scrolling on most monitors at this moment in time. - Dudesleeper · Talk 09:24, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Town and CDP[edit]

How do the town and the CDP link ? The CDP is smaller - does the town cover that, and other areas ? -- Beardo 21:44, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In New England, towns cover a fairly large area (like a township in some other states). The official municipality (the town) covers the central area and a fair bit of rural areas as well. The community defined by the Census Bureau (the CDP) is only the central built-up portion; 3.1 square miles as opposed to 22 square miles. CrazyC83 18:14, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation?[edit]

I have heard "Kennabunkport" and "Kennybunkport." Kostaki mou (talk) 22:11, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's more that the "bunk" isn't stressed. It's "Kennybunk" with "port" tacked on. Kenna is probably local pronunciation; Kenny is the Tourist Way. - Dudesleeper talk 22:29, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
According to the article on Kennebunk, which I should have consulted first, it's the other way around. Kostaki mou (talk) 00:58, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tourist Season[edit]

The quiet hometown of many Kennebunkport residents turns into a tourist frenzy around mid-June when schools are out. The initial rush of tourists at the begin of the season can flourish and may not be as numerous until the beginning of July. By the infamous "Fourth of July Fireworks" held at Gooch's Beach, the is many people who are in town for either week vacation, multi-week vacation, or a summer-stay vacation. Throughout the rest of July and August the consistent high numbers of tourist is always likely. Around Labor Day, the number spikes for the "last weekend of Summer" and then the tourist population starts to drop after that. Although, the summer fun of Kennebunkport is over when the cold weather approaches, the town surprises you with the week of festivities called Christmas Prelude in December. Prelude is typically the first week of December and is intended to be a celebration to welcome the holidays. The end of these special holiday events could also be considered the end of the tourist season. Many shops close at this point and wait for the following year's season to start up to reopen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashley.harrison21 (talkcontribs) 20:34, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
