Birthdate possibly erroneous[edit]

Katie McGrath stated on BBC Radio One Breakfast on October 25, 2012 that October 24th is NOT her birthday. [1] --198.91.167.45 (talk) 06:04, 19 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You're quite right. I was convinced the opposite because of her IMDb page, but after watching the BBC interview, I see you're perfectly right. The question is, what is her correct birthday date? Jonas Vinther (talk) 16:26, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

According to https://answersafrica.com/katie-mcgrath-age-height-married-gay.html her date of birth is 3rd January 1983, but I'm not sure how reliable this data is.92.41.233.70 (talk) 21:20, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Given that they prominently disclaim factual accuracy, it shouldn't be used. --Hipal (talk) 21:48, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not married to J.J. Abrams[edit]

This article is referring to a different Katie McGrath who is also from Ireland. It is not intending to create rumours or confusion about the Merlin-star Katie McGrath, it is just a case of two women with the same name. [1] [2]

Unable to cross-reference her having been on "The Tudors"[edit]

This article claims that she was in the Showtime television series "The Tudors". However, I have looked at the guest-star lists for that show, as well as her own page on IMDB and could find no evidence that such a claim was fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.103.188.209 (talk) 19:18, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

TVGuide lists her as having played 'Bess' in "The Tudors" as does the fan site 'Katie McGrath Source', which has Screen Captures of the part in question. [3] [4] Ross Nolan (talk) 10:39, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pronounciation guide needed[edit]

In several interviews, Katie pronounces her last name "McGraw", and this is also done by the narrator on the Australian "Secrets Behind the Magic" special (available on YouTube). Presumably there must be some Irish/Gaelic thing at work that renders the "th" silent in her name. For the sake of accuracy we should have on of those pronounciation guide things added. I have no idea how to go about it myself. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 12:24, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

>Correct presump It's a fairly common surname where I live, but it's generally pronounced more like Mah-grah, with a rough 'h' sound on the end, rather than Mah-graw. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.124.88.196 (talk) 11:28, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    • Whether correct or not correct, just go on YouTube and you'll find interviews in which Katie says Mah-Graw. Steven Colbert doesn't say his name "Coal-Bert" either. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 01:40, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wicklow[edit]

Wicklow is a separate county and not part of Dublin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.139.49.242 (talk) 18:07, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Katie's Birthday[edit]

No official information has actually ever been said about Katie's birthday but she said in an interview a few years ago that it wasn't October 24th (because the interviewer also thought it was her birthday and she said it was not). I can't seem to find a source saying it was the 3rd of January. EDIT: I assume we want a better source than an instagram comment? --TheHiddenDemons (talk) 08:02, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

David Harewood confirmed its January 3rd KatieMcgeeeeeek (talk) 22:23, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We would still need a proper source, and he never said a date, he just said "belated birthday" I believe. The post has also since been deleted.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 22:28, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, if it's deleted, as this edit I reverted stated in its edit summary, she obviously doesn't want anyone to know her birth date. It's why trying to find reliable information about her birth date is so challenging. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 22:38, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Since she's been so secretive about it we're definitely going to want it straight from her if it were to be added. She obviously doesn't want people to know for a reason.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 23:49, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Katherine?[edit]

Out of curiosity, what's the source for Katie's name being Katherine Elizabeth? --TheHiddenDemons (talk) 02:51, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Expanding this article[edit]

There is not as much out there about McGrath as there is about other actresses, and she is very private when it comes to her personal life, but there are some interviews she's given (including recently) that can allow for some expansion of the article. Because the recent interviews are mostly about her role as Lena Luthor, I will be putting the vast majority of that information in the Lena Luthor article I will be creating. But I will at some point also look to expand the Katie McGrath article with some non-Lena Luthor material. There is not enough "in the media" material for McGrath, like there is for for Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and others, where stuff like "Supergirl’s Katie McGrath is Tumblr’s Most Popular Actress in 2017" could be put, but that can fit in the Career section. Birthday[edit]

I can't be the only person annoyed the people keep adding her birthday/full name without a source, right? Just frustrated.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 00:53, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You can request page protection at WP:Requests for page protection. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 07:50, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'll see if it dies down, the page protection just got lifted a couple days ago. If it continues I'll ask for more protection, just give it a bit of time.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 20:46, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Model"[edit]

QueerFilmNerd, as seen here and here, an IP keeps adding "model." Since McGrath is primarily an actress, I don't see that "model" is needed in the lead either. Seems fine to just keep it in the infobox. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 00:22, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Flyer22 Reborn, I personally don't think that model is needed in either the LEDE or infobox; McGrath is not notable as a model (in fact I don't think she's done a photoshoot in a couple years. However, I'm content with it staying in the infobox if we want to keep it in, but agree it's unnecessary in the LEDE. QueerFilmNerdtalk 01:58, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Given the IP, maybe we need to wait a few days to move it out of the lead. We can also report the IP for edit warring if they continue to add it to the lead. On a side note: Since this talk page is on my watchlist, I prefer not to be pinged to it. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 23:40, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If there's a source that demonstrates modeling is part of her notability, please present it, quoting the portion that verifies such notability. Infoboxes are not catch-alls, but present basic information and aspects of notability. --Ronz (talk) 20:42, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ronz, I wasn't arguing that she is notable as a model. I was simply arguing that "model" doesn't belong in the lead because she is primarily an actress/primarily known as an actress. The infobox thing was only suggested as a compromise. I don't care about it not being in the infobox. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 21:25, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. My comment was directed at the ip and anyone else interested in giving it such weight. --Ronz (talk) 21:44, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
