[Untitled][edit]

I wish to edit this page to help it conform to required guidelines. I have not edited a Wikipedia article yet. I wand to add inline citations, external links, and expand on the biographical info. Am I allowed to just edit the existing document? Should I create a new page and replace this one? Create a new page and submit it for approval? I work at Family Promise, the nonprofit that Karen Olson founded. I don't know if that is a conflict of interest--I'm not looking to add any sort of editorial point-of-view...just want to update the info, add to it, and supply sources. How should I proceed, please? Links[edit]

I've copied this request from User talk:Cakaul for consideration by other editors. --Anon126 (talk - contribs) 19:30, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to make available two items on Karen Olson's Wiki page: a link to a speech she gave at the Clinton School in 2011 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SL8ZNSRPmLU) and a profile that Marlo Thomas did on Olson as part of her "Hero Next Door" series on her website on AOL.com (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8-claJSS4c). I think these are both appropriate material for a biography of a living person. Can you advise me if they are and, if so, how I should make them available on the page? Thanks much. I have reposted this edit because I wasn't signed in for the previous posting.Cakaul (talk) 18:35, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

These could be included, but they should be placed in the sources section, not in the actual body of the article. The references should also be formatted; see citation templates the introduction to referencing for more information. I'll start on them. --Anon126 (talk - contribs) 19:30, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've added 3 external links that I discussed above--The Clinton School speech and the Hero Next Door story that ran on Marlo Thomas' channel at AOL.com. Are these acceptable as is? I wasn't sure if they should be in the Notes section with inline citations or listed under external links. I went with external links.Cakaul (talk) 17:09, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Anon126--in your message to me of 8 January, you said you were going to start on the referencing of the two video links. I have not seen any activity. Are they ok as is? Thanks.Cakaul (talk) 21:44, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

--Cakaul (talk) 17:01, 23 July 2014 (UTC)I have re-edited the Karen Olson page, adding specific categories, tightening inline citations, and getting user permissions for the photos, which I have emailed to Wikipedia and have received OKs for their posting. I would appreciate input on what is left to do to get Wikipedia to take down the issue boxes at the top of the page. Thanks.[reply]

Cakaul (talk) 19:43, 18 November 2014 (UTC)I am having trouble getting a response from editors about the Karen Olson article. I am trying to edit it so that the issue boxes at the top are removed. It seems to me that the inline citations are sufficient but the issue box suggests otherwise. They seem well within the parameters of other articles to me. Also, this note was put up in 2009 and many citations have been added since then to try and address the concerns and get it removed.[reply]

As for the notability guidelines, Karen Olson would seem to fall well within Wiki's parameters on this subject. Is the problem that her organization, Family Promise, does not have a page. I am willing to create one but I am having so much difficulty getting this page right that I am hesitant to attempt to create a new page...especially as I have never created a Wiki page. I was advised some time ago to start one by simply creating the title "Family Promise" in my sandbox (cakaul) and someone would take it from there but that hasn't happened.

Could I please get a response/some help on this? I've been trying to get a dialogue going for months with no luck.

Thank you.
