Requested move 10 October 2016[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved. We have a rough consensus here to rename this page away from the "(criminal)" disambiguator to a more natural title about the crime. While other possible names were mentioned, I don't see consensus nor reason to vary from the proposer's title. A hatnote will be put in place to address other concerns here. Justin Lee (criminal)Justin Lee sex scandal – As discussed in the AFD (See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Justin Lee (criminal)), I propose renaming the title. The event is significant here and this article largely talks about the event. Also the use of the word "criminal" is a bit odd to say the least. A title about the event is factual and resolves any BLP concerns. Lemongirl942 (talk) 06:54, 10 October 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. Omni Flames (talk) 04:04, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment See [1] and [2] which use the term "sex scandal" to describe this. I am open to other suggestions as well. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 07:03, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose for now. It's not evident from the article yet, but looking at the sources, it appears Lee was notable before the rape cases, meaning it's better suited as a bio article.--Cúchullain t/c 14:14, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose at this time because of the presence of Justin Lee (actor); these could easily be confused if the article under discussion is renamed, which could be considered a BLP issue. "Criminal" vs "actor" disambiguates them quite well. K.e.coffman (talk) 07:02, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as the subject matter and party needs to be clear, as In ictu oculi & K.e.coffman both state. Kierzek (talk) 13:17, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move to "Justin Lee sex assault scandal". To quote my comment on the AfD: Keep, move and repurpose as "Justin Lee sexual assault scandal" or similar, to conform with the equivalent article on Chinese Wikipedia. This is a case of WP:BLP1E where the 1E was highly notable. We shouldn't worry about confusion with other Justin Lees because the article content makes it clear that they're two different people. Deryck C. 17:03, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support a move to Justin Lee sex assault scandal or nomination per WP:BLP1E. Even the Chinese Wikipedia article with far more content is not a biography. —  AjaxSmack  23:51, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename to make the article about the sex scandal. Lee was not notable before this broke. He was a partier of no note. We would not at all consider the article but for his alleged crimes. This Lee is one of 5 mentioned when you search Justin Lee, there is no reason to think the rename would be taken as an attack on the actor, as opposed to the activist or any of the others. If Justin Lee was not a disambiguation page the above concerns might have weight, but it is a disambiguation page so they do not.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:52, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Should have no confusion as long as we have a link above pointing out this is not about the actor and point them to the actor and disambiguous page at the top. Zhanzhao (talk) 11:52, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
