Reville County[edit]

I note that "Reville County" was the birthplace claimed by the Find-a-Grave biography — however, the problem with it is that there simply isn't and never has been any county of that name anywhere in Canada, which means it's an error of some kind on their part which we accordingly cannot repeat here. The closest name that has existed to "Reville" is the defunct Rouville County in Quebec, but I'm not going to simply insert that without another source to verify it — I've also seen a RootsWeb discussion thread for this family which speculates that the phantom "Reville" may also be a misspelling of Iberville County in Quebec, or of La Rivière, Manitoba, so there are already too many alternatives out there for us to simply assume anything without a stronger source.

In addition, it warrants note that for the same reasons why you can't just say "Chicago, USA" or "Washington County, USA" without a state name in between the locality and the country, it is never appropriate to just say "City, Canada" or "County, Canada" without a province name in between. Wherever his correct birthplace turns out to be, the province name needs to be specified in addition to the Canada. Bearcat (talk) 20:49, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
