Arisa

  • Arisa - A unique chicken dish that is very-very rare nowdays, normally served to the royalties and social elites in Johor at formal functions and celebrations.

I cut the following out of the main article as it was not appropriate in an article about the state. I guess it needs a home in another article someday:

The ingredients are:

    • 2 young chicken weighing 1.2 kg
    • 500 g of oats
    • 4 red onions
    • 15 cloves of garlic
    • 15 cardammon seeds
    • 10 cloves
    • 50 mm of cinnamon sticks
    • 100 mm of ginger
    • 340 g lb of ghee
    • 2 tablespoons of white pepper
    • Salt to taste
    • Clean the chicken, cut into 4. Place in a stock pot. Blend the ginger and garlic, cut red onion into 4 and put the blended ingredients and onion into the stock pot. Add in 12 glasses of water, add in salt, cardamon seeds, cinnamon sticks and cloves. Bring the chicken to boil. Take out the chicken, deboned it and blend it into puree. Sieve the chicken stock, bring it to boil again, add in the chicken puree, oats, white pepper and salt to taste. Stir nonstop until it thickens, add in half of the ghee and stir until the mixture is smooth. Pour the mixture into a square mold to shape it with a depression in the middle. The rest of the ghee is used to fry onions which is the poured into the depression. The fried onions is sprinkled on top to garnish.

Royal Capital

It's written here that the royal capital is Pasir Pelangi. I thought it's Muar town. Was it officially moved?

--Bukhrin 18:34, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Muar was never the royal capital. Wai Hong 02:28, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Muar was only the royal town when the Sultan during Daeng Ibrahim and Abu Bakar period had so little power. Anyway, the Malay wikipedia article has mistakes. The Sultan is in Pasir Pelangi near JOhor Bahru now. Wai Hong 13:52, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Muar is known as Bandar Maharani. During the Daeng and Abu Bakar period, the sultan resided in Muar. It was a royal town. In fact, at Malay Wikipedia: ms:Bandar_DiRaja — Preceding unsigned comment added by Earth (talkcontribs) 02:50, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Economy section

I started the section on johor's economy with information about SJER. I hope someone with better knowledge of Johor can expand that section. I also noticed that there has not been much references in this article. Wai Hong 14:22, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Considering that Johor is one of the largest state in Malaysia, why is the economy section is so short? What about other parts of Johor? What is the main focus of the economy in Johor? (agriculture, tourism etc?) Even the description on Iskandar Malaysia is short considering that it is one of the mega project at the Southern region. Hope someone can expand it.Garyt45 04:28, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

I have added the economy breakdown in terms of the GDP in the state. Chongkian (talk) 10:13, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

English Naming

From what I have known that Johore used to be an English name by British. Should we change the english name Johor to Johore? Johnson 12:29, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't think so. "Johor" is more commonly used than "Johore" today. Even in Singapore, where "Johore" is more common a couple of years ago, has switch to "Johor". --Joshua Chiew 10:04, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Malaysia

Calling all Malaysian Wikipedians around the world!! It is high time for us to start our own WikiProject for Malaysia..any one can create/assisting me to create WikiProject Malaysia. Marcusaffleck 11:24, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

There is WikiProject Malaysia already. Chongkian (talk) 06:27, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
I smiled because the comment you just replied to was made in 2007, and Marcusaffleck hasn't edited since 2008. Two things spring to mind - (1) Marcusaffleck probably isn't reading this, and (2) this page needs archiving... I've just set up some automatic archiving code so that should happen shortly. -- Begoon 10:38, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
Trust me, I also know it might sound a bit silly to do this. But still, it's better to get things replied/solved instead of leaving it unanswered indefinitely. And you'll never know, they might check it now. :) Chongkian (talk) 12:02, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
Or someone else might... Fair enough. Incidentally, WikiProject Malaysia says it was founded on 4 August 2007, so when Marcusaffleck made the above comment it didn't exist. He went on to make the 5th ever edit to the new project page himself, taking part in its creation just as he suggested here he wanted to... -- Begoon 12:39, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
