objection to deletion[edit]

I have said in the note to my last edit why I think the subject is important enough for an entry despite few recordings and lack of fame outside the field.

The article is not an original one: I translated it from German Wikipedia. My reasons for translating the German article were (a) in the hope that English speakers can add better evidence, since the subject died before the start of the Internet age, making sources harder to trace than for more reacent jazz violinists who have a higher profile on the Internet but are in reality far less important; and (b) because if the article appears only in German, users may be frustrated, particularly since the subject was British. If deleting the article is, contrary to my view, the right one, it might make more sense to delete the German version first.

It is the second time I have translated an article from German Wikipedia, partly in the spirit of extending access to an item which German wikipedia has thought fit to include but English Wikipedia has missed. John Birchall (talk) 18:43, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
