Nicknames[edit]

I removed the section on Nicknames. There were zero citations and this does not appear in line with other similar biographies. If someone would like to argue for its inclusion, we should at least include citations for the claims made. Thkie (talk) 02:30, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the author of the section in question. I understand the problem with not having citations, but I could not find a source that chronicled exactly how and when the nickname came to be. My information is accurate however, as I have followed Gaudreau's career very closely since his recruitment to Boston College. The earliest known use of the phrase "Johnny Hockey" as far as I can recall was during the 2013 World Juniors, coined by E.J. Hradek. He was never known by the nickname before then, but there are no sources to back up this information. As for other similar biographies, Johnny Manziel, the person who "Johnny Hockey" is in reference too, has his nickname (Johnny Football) listed and detailed information written about on his article. Wayne Gretzky's nickname, The Great One, is also on his article.
I am more than happy to find sources to support the claim that Johnny Hockey is in fact his nickname, as well as for the Gaudreauby Baker section. However, there are no sources as to why the nickname exists, only my personal knowledge. Mushh94 (talk) 03:45, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problems with a reference to the nicknames as long as they can be supported. An entire section devoted to the history of the nickname seems excessive and I question whether its notable enough to warrant such detailed inclusion but I won't argue the fact if we can meet the guidelines on Verifiability and No Original Research. Personal Life - Appearance[edit]

I recently contributed a fully sourced line under the "Personal Life" section regarding fans and the media making fun of Gaudreau due to his small stature and "baby face" leading him to look like a child, but it was removed by BilCat because of an apparent BLP violation. Do you guys think the information should be put back up? Levdizd (talk) 19:00, 15 April 2018 (UTC)Levdizd Levdizd (talk) 19:00, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

While the addition was clearly in good faith it reminds me of Phil Kessel's "internet fame" section that I have recently removed. The looking like a young kid is not a true critique and mostly a fan thing. A critique about his small stature is due but the 12 year old boy comment was too much. @HickoryOughtShirt?4: Above user is clearly a WikiVandal sock - compare [1] and [2]. SPI, etc is pending. Home Lander (talk) 21:40, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And now blocked as a confirmed sockpuppet. - BilCat (talk) 22:20, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Does not play for Detroit, hmm[edit]

He was a Calgary flame until UFA and at the time of this writing is still a free agent. 68.146.132.206 (talk) 18:49, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Now hold on.[edit]

Johnny Gaudreau may seem like a spoiled, self-righteous p.o.s. for stabbing Calgary in the back, but in his defence .......Icearoni (talk) 01:14, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
