Additional citations[edit]

Hi :Dr. Swag Lord

I don't think I should edit my own page, so I wanted to respond on the talk page and offer suggestions. I noticed you made some deletions and changes. I wanted to suggest this citation that I came across for Rogers and my work on outings from SF Gate. I think as we go forward I'll find useful citations for the Raw Story as well, but I think this is one citation to hold for reference. Also, LA Weekly also references John Byrne's outing of former House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier (R-CA). Perhaps these are of use?

As far as the nonprofit executive element, the HIV Plus Mag and South Florida Gay News sources the founding of Prevention 305 by John Byrne. Perhaps it better to say nonprofit founder? Guidestar also lists John Byrne as principal officer for the Prevention 305 nonprofit. Either way it seems like mentioning Prevention 305 in the section about PrEP is reasonable. Let me know your thoughts.

Out 100 and Corrections[edit]

Hi @Grorp or any other editor! (I have a conflict of interest, as disclosed above, and am the subject of the article.) I declared my connection above.

First, I wanted to suggest a possible addition to the 'Career' section. In 2022, John Byrne was named to the Out 100, Out Magazine's compilation of the year’s most impactful and influential LGBTQ+ people. (source).

I also wanted to also suggest an addition to "Outing of political figures." Byrne was also involved in the outing of former Rep. David Dreier (R-CA). (source.)

Second, I wanted to note a few corrections. John Byrne was the founding Executive Director of Prevention 305 but is no longer the Executive Director or CEO. The current Executive Director is Patrick Whiteside (source). In "HIV Prevention Advocacy," I would suggest a language change in the last sentence. I'd suggest adding the word "helped" before "started." While Prevention 305 was involved with the creation of a mobile PrEP clinic, the clinic is actually operated by the University of Miami.

Another small change, the link is broken for Jeffrey Byrne in "Early Life and Education." Here is an archive.org link. I would suggest changing "is" a family physician to "was," since he is now retired.

Finally, I was able to find a photograph of the subject that I contributed to Wikimedia and uploaded it here.

Thanks in advance for your consideration. JByrne404 (talk) 16:08, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

HIV Prevention Advocacy[edit]

I reordered the HIV advocacy section so that the founding of Prevention Access Campaign/Prevention 305 follows at the correct time in the series of sentences. I also removed two of the date references, since the paragraph reads too much like a list.

After reviewing the article and the talk page, I also removed the COI template dating to July 2018 as the issue has been adequately addressed. The article has seen changes by multiple unaffiliated editors and the entry is written in neutral Wikipedia voice. In addition, editors with a conflict of interest have declared their affiliation here on the talk page and have made requests noting their conflicts of interest, which have been addressed by other editors.
