Welsh language controversy[edit]

I removed the section relative to the case of Thomas Bowles as WP:OFFTOPIC for the following reasons.

  1. The 19th century DNB did not even mention the case
  2. Beyond the fact that Egerton appointed Bowles in 1766, he seems not to have been involved in answering the legal challenge, which did not begin until 1770, two years after he had moved to another position
  3. No reference was given to show that Egerton was called to give evidence

Three paragraphs dealing with the course of a case in which his involvement stopped with the original appointment therefore seemed unjustified. It can be dealt with in a single sentence. Sweetpool50 (talk) 13:08, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
