There are at least two medieval scholars called Johannes de Garlandia (or Jean de Garlande or John of Garlande). One was this well known musicologist. The other was an educationalist and grammarian of the early 13th century, also quite well known in his own field, lecturer at Paris, one of the founding lecturers at the University of Toulouse, author of an autobiographical poem De triumphis ecclesiae. Since they have been mistakenly linked, I want to sort them out. Both wrote in Latin. Can I rename this one Johannes de Garlandia, musicologist or something similar, so that I can do a disambiguation page and make a stub for the other one J d G, grammarian? I think that would work (put their specialties in parens). For a long time it was presumed the two were the same person, but more recent musicology studies have shown that this one (Johannes de Garlandia (music theorist) ) was a late 13th-century figure, distinct from the grammarian.
