"A true polymath, he invented the Birkenstock, a popular footwear item, in 1728." I don't think this is correct. According to the Birkenstock website, there was a Johann Adam Birkenstock, who was a cobbler in 1774; but the composer died in 1733. I wonder if there is confusion with another JAB (a descendant?) Perhaps we should move the sentence to the talk page until verification is made--FeanorStar7 (talk) 08:59, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
