Proposed merge with Magpi[edit]

The software appears not to be notable independently of Selanikio, the inventor, whereas he is notable for other things as well; it would make sense to merge the software page into the biography. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:00, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose merge, on the ground that the software seems to have had a long history and development independent of one of its founders, and has won a sufficient set of awards to merit independent notability for the product. Klbrain (talk) 22:41, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Focus of the Page[edit]

Recent edits to the page have shifted focus from the work for which Selanikio has primarily been recognized. The vast majority of Selanikio's work is in international development and technology based on remaining and removed references. This work has resulted in numerous awards (included in the recognition currently listed), a TED talk and speaking at Davos. Only a small percentage of Selanikio's work is related to his job as a pediatrician at Georgetown, which is not otherwise notable. Recent edits have removed all mentions of work in technology, global health, and international development, providing no context for the awards still listed. I recommend returning information considered relevant to these awards and recognition in the fields of technology, global health, and international development. chatfielda (talk) 19:00, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the section immediately above this for a possible solution to this perceived failure. However, I think your perception is wrong – his work as a doctor in Africa and Indonesia has received sufficient coverage to be included here (and has incidentally gained my personal esteem).
