Shang Dynasty[edit]
Two sources, the Book of Rites and the Records of the Grand Historian, mention that King Wu of Zhou upon his victory over King Yin of Shang, gave recognition to the vassal ruler(s) of the State of Ji. This implies that the State of Ji already existed prior to the founding of the Zhou Dynasty and originates in the Shang Dynasty. The victory of Zhou over Shang took place in 1045 B.C., during the 11th century B.C. The actual founding of Ji is not documented in historical sources and has not been determined by archaeologists, hence the Ji dates to at least the 11th century B.C.. Location[edit]
In the introduction Ji is alleged to be at "modern day Guang'anmen neighborhood of southwestern Beijing". Then it goes on to place "Dadu to the northwest". The former is centered about here while the latter was centered about here, today's Drum Tower area. So something's not right here. I would guess it should simply be "to the northeast", but since I am not a qualified historian I hope someone else can look into this. gg EnTerbury (talk) 03:47, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
