Why is one of the ecternal links "His picture"? Shouldnt we just upload the pic under fair use? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Partapdua1 (talkcontribs) 04:29, 11 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Heh: "freezing-cold liquid nitrogen" is a funny phrase. Obviously the nitrogen itself is not frozen, because it's not a solid. And presumably it doesn't freeze his mouth, so "freezing" is not a verb referring to what it's doing in this context. It's certainly below the freezing point of water, but it's far colder than this ... an attempt at humorous understatement?  :-)

NPOV... and who the hell thinks Fundamentals of Physics is a good book? —Preceding unsigned comment added by JoaoXP (talkcontribs) 14:31, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Birth Place[edit]

Pensacola (Florida) or Cleveland? (both stated in the article)--Meilenweit (talk) 09:37, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've asked the editor who added the Cleveland birthplace for the basis for that. If we can't resolve this, I suggest that we strike both Cleveland and Pensacola. TJRC (talk) 17:44, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

POV[edit]

I've added a POV tag. This article is basically a self-promotional blurb. We have POV and self-promotional language all over the place: "gold standard," "notorious for his popular yet controversial physics demonstrations," "very popular ... column," "Walker's physics antics have amazed and delighted his students for years, and have made him one of the most popular professors at CSU."--75.83.69.196 (talk) 05:10, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've just done a small cleanup, including addressing what POV issues identified above still remain, and pulled the POV tag. If anyone believes it still needs POV editing, have at it. TJRC (talk) 22:52, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

proposed deletion[edit]

I've proposed this article for deletion. There is no evidence of notability. The article is unsourced and reads like a self-promotional book-jacket blurb.--75.83.69.196 (talk) 05:19, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Note prod was contested and removed (a move with which I heartily agree; there's no question Walker is notable). I've documented the failed PROD above, to guard against further PRODs. TJRC (talk) 17:46, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Info from a former CSU student[edit]

Jearl is a notable individual. I had him for my physics classes and his teaching was outstanding. He has done all of the things noted in this biography, just wish I had the footnotes to add to give them more credibility. 216.82.241.35 (talk) 15:55, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
