initial stub / refs

  • Drafted an initial stub for Jeanne Gomoll, noted fan, editor, and graphic artist. There are loads of refs to her in various fannish accounts and studies; I've begun with just a few from feminist science fiction references I know. --Lquilter (talk) 00:11, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Full disclosure

I worked on this article extensively. I've also known Jeanne for over 30 years, and have corresponded with her as recently as today on creating and improving this article. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:34, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

  • Should I disclose too? I have met Jeanne, although more thru overlapping feminist SF circles and mailing lists than in personal interactions ... which is where I saw the comment about Gomoll lacking an article in WP, and then I wrote about it on the list and to folks I knew who would be knowledgeable about JG or WP. .... Just speaking personally, I think it's reasonable for WP editors to work on articles of people whom they know, whom they also know are notable; the conflict-of-interest issues would come up, IMO, with close relationships of various sorts. Anyway, I applaud your diligence, OrangeMike; it hadn't really occurred to me to do it, since I don't feel a conflict of interest in writing about Jeanne. (I do, of course, stay off of articles that I feel a true conflict of interest about.) --Lquilter (talk) 03:03, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
It need not be a matter of COI. As a friend of Jeanne's it can be reasonably asserted that I will have a harder time maintaining NPOV: so, I disclose. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:58, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Makes sense. I know her much less than you do, it seems. (BTW -- I think the article is looking good.) --Lquilter (talk) 01:05, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
