Title change[edit]

I suggest that we should rename the article to January 2008 Western North American winter storm or super storm (the better one of the two) as it is obviously not just California that was hammered by the storm but also Nevada and Oregon (Washington, Wyoming and Idaho?) as well.--JForget 17:29, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Also, it needs more work. I have seen hundreds of news stories that have a treasure trove of information that should be here. Juliancolton (talk) 17:52, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions[edit]

To work towards GA the first thing needed is full citations. Aboutmovies (talk) 07:17, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Weather Channel storm names[edit]

A recent edit removed the storm names without explanation. My guess is that the editor is one of those who does not accept TWC's storm naming.

I expect there has been a discussion or two about this somewhere but I did not find one. However, Googling for such a discussion turns up the article Winter storm naming in the United States which lays out the arguments for and against. Maybe someone knows of a consensus for Wikipedia? —EncMstr (talk) 21:16, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is no solid consensus on this topic on Wikipedia, it actually shifts somewhat, depending on the notability of the storm. However, the names generally can be included, as long as the article is not titled after them. LightandDark2000 (talk) 08:43, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Content - unrecoverable {deadlink} - Infobox: Casualties[edit]

Attempting to clear the CS1 error: Missing title - I removed the following citation because the URL is dead and I can not locate a copy from the listed website or in any internet archive. I searched newspapers and news channel websites and can find no mention of a count of deaths or a missing person story.

<ref>{{cite news| url=https://www.theguardian.com/worldlatest/story/0,,-7204646,00.html | work=The Guardian | location=London }} {{Dead link|date=August 2010|bot=RjwilmsiBot}}</ref>

I flagged the section of the infobox with {citation needed} in the hopes a future editor can add a reference I could not find.
