Effect of Appropriations Cmte chairmanship on elections[edit]
In addition, it is considered all but impossible to defeat an Appropriations Committee chairman in an election. I assume you're arguing causation: Whitten was reelected in part because he was Appropriations chairman. Perhaps that's true, but then again it may be only a matter of correlation rather than causation, especially in Whitten's case. I'm taking this out unless you can bring a citation showing this statement's truth and relevance to Whitten. Terence7 (talk) 04:18, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
No mention of his having a stroke in mid 1993[edit]
Could well be why he was removed as chair of the Appropriations committee in 1993 and why he didn't seek reelection in 1994 ? - Rod57 (talk) 19:50, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
