"M.A."[edit]

Amazing that J. P. Malcolm called him "M.A." if he wasn't one. Oxford did give out a few honorary MAs, usually to curry some favour, but I don't suppose he was one of those? Moonraker (talk) 12:35, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing about it in the standard source: s:Page:Alumni Oxoniensis (1715-1886) volume 2.djvu/170. Charles Matthews (talk) 19:51, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just a blunder by J. P. Malcolm, then. Wonder if he was equally casual about other things? Moonraker (talk) 20:08, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The bogus M.A. to sell books was not unknown: see John Entick. James Peller Malcolm never made quite enough money, it seems. Charles Matthews (talk) 21:50, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Example Relevant?[edit]

The following comment does not seem relevant to James Granger. It may be more appropriate to move this over to the relevant biography, or to antiquarian studies of Bristol.

His main interest, however, was in extra-illustrating his copy of William Barrett's History and Antiquities of the City of Bristol.[1]
