Jamaica is the most couloruful contrie ive every seen is the DON coutrie

The "raw term" Jamaica, goes to Jamaica (the country). On the disambig page, I have no problem with listing Jamaica (the country) as number one, but then the disambig page should refer to the "raw term" Jamaica.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but I still think "Jamaica, a nation in the Caribbean Sea" should be at the top. Jamaica, the country, is surely the most important place with this name. Teklund 10:51, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Raw term Jamaica should point to the disambiguation page. Jamaica the country sshoul be moved to Jamaica (Country)|Jamaica. Since you are arriving at the disambig page from Jamaica the country, why should Jamaica the country get top billing? answer: it shouldn't. If, on the other hand, you were to search for Jamaica and then arrived at the disambig page, then put Jamaica the country at top.

Surely, what one thinks is the most important place with a particular name depends on your personal geography and perceptions. The home of JFK Airport, St. Johns University, York College-the city University of NY, and the County Seat of Queens County of the City of New York is important.jimryan

I have no problem with Jamaica the nation being at top, but then one should land on this disambig page when typing in Jamaica. Jimryan

The standard practice at Wikipedia is to put the country under the plain country name and then use a disambig page named "[Country Name] (disambiguation)", see United States and United States (disambiguation), Canada and Canada (disambiguation), United Kingdom and United Kingdom (disambiguation), Japan and Japan (disambiguation), Luxembourg and Luxembourg (disambiguation), Brazil and Brazil (disambiguation), etc. (Note also, that on all of those disambig pages, the country is listed first) Your arguments may be justification for changing that standard for all countries, but we shouldn't just treat one country different from all the rest. My view is that this page should conform to the same format as other, similar pages.Cbvt 22:58, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So that if one looks at the disambig pages cited, the "RAW TERM" is not given top billing on the disambig page. You are agreeing with me. Jimryan
