Notability & references[edit]

This article—despite having a number of additional references to non-reliable sources—still lacks any references to significant coverage in sources. Notability has not been established by reference either to WP:BAND or WP:GNG. Please don't remove the tags until these issues are addressed adequately. I suggest discussing on the talk page prior to removing them again. Bongomatic 11:19, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was the one who removed the tags. In my opinion the sources are reliable and notability has been established. Your opinion is the opposite, without much more support than simply pointing to the WP template pages. I found that it was a good time to remove the tags because "these issues [were] addressed adequately" by the work of WP contributors without the need to discuss it here. But since we seem to be at an impasse of opinions, hopefully someone else will chime in. Either way the tags, especially the one on non-notability, are creating an unfair danger of deletion to a worthy article that some knowledgeable people have worked on. By what criteria do you find the article "worthy" for inclusion in Wikipedia? It does not appear to me that the article meets inclusion guidelines. By contrast, lots of knowledgeable people work on worthy content that doesn't belong in Wikipedia but add greatly to the world (despite not being suited as encyclopedia entries). "Worthy" is yet another matter of opinion, which is what we are both giving in this discussion. Not sure if your opinion (or mine) has priority over the several people who have contributed to the article. But allow me to point to WP:MUSIC-Criteria for musicians and ensembles. That WP guideline says "A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) may be notable if it meets at least one of the following criteria:" For Jah Paul Jo, I find evidence for criteria #1,2,4,5,6,7 - all from the sources in this article or sources in its many blue-linked articles. Doomsdayer520 (Talk|Contribs) 11:49, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Worthy" is shorthand for "meets notability guidelines".
  • Criterion 1. I see no evidence of any significant coverage about the subject (as opposed to Dread Zeppelin).
  • Criterion 2. No solo charted albums or singles cited in article (or Dread Zeppelin ones for that matter).
  • Criterion 4. No coverage of subject's tours excluding Dread Zeppelin.
  • Criterion 5. No solo albums claimed at all (all are Dread Zeppelin).
  • Criterion 6. He is not an ensemble. Dread Zeppelin is, and has an article.
  • Criterion 7. What style? Led Zeppelin cover bands? I don't think that is the thrust of the criterion.
Please be specific about what I'm missing. Bongomatic 13:52, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm removing the notability tag. As a member of Dread Zeppelin and The Prime Movers, the subject satisfies WP:BAND #6: "...is a musician who has been a member of two or more independently notable ensembles." 28bytes (talk) 18:12, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Additional sources[edit]

I was hoping to use Google News Archive to find some more sources to add to this article but the ones I've found so far all require payment to view the article. So if anyone has free access to any of the following newspaper archives, please post here so we can beef up the sourcing on this article. 28bytes (talk) 16:35, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
