More info, from Boelcke article in progress[edit]

Hope this is not unwelcome. I was working on Boelcke, and came across this info.

Redirect needed?[edit]

From 'Jasta Boelcke' to 'Jagdstaffel 2'. Jasta was often referred to as 'Jasta Boelcke' instead of by number because German high command ordered renaming of squadron.

Factoid needing cite[edit]

I recall from my reading and previous writing that Boelcke interviewed candidates for his proposed jasta during his tour of Turkey and the Balkans. However, I can't seem to lay hands on a source. If someone has it, could they please add it to article?

Confused? I'm sure others are too...[edit]

Karl Bolle is listed under Commandants AND under Notable Personnel (Who never "rose to command".)

Did he or did he not command Jasta 2?

I'll leave the editing for someone who wants to fix this discrepancy. Trying to fix the damage done by the "Flyboys" fanboy revisionists to the Eugene Bullard article has left a disdain for future corrections.

Good catch, whoever you are. It has been corrected.Georgejdorner (talk) 23:39, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Faulty chronology[edit]

When Boelcke was withdrawn from combat, he first went on his inspection tour through the Ottoman Empire. Then he was summoned back to Germany, wrote the Dicta, and helped reorganize Germany's military aviation. That's not clear in present version. Must root about in my bookshelf, and find sources for correction.Georgejdorner (talk) 07:49, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
